yeh...I've been waiting for this one for ages. I love Geist 1, but the fact that the GUI couldn't be resized was annoying. New version looks slick. Had a play with the quick sampling stuff (based on threshold)....works a treat and great fun! So many things to explore.

The resizing is a little sluggish for me, don't know if you're seeing that as well. And it seems the "use layers" button in the slicing window doesn't work - slices go onto individual pads whether I have it enabled or not. So while I was always going to buy it, looks like there are some teething problems...

The "use layer" button does actually work, but maybe not how you expect.  Geist 2 allows up to 64 slices (which from a KVR answer can't seem to be reduced).  So, you have to have a sample that has more than 64 slices before the layering begins.

You can test it by changing the Detection Mode to "Divide" and run the number of divisions above 64.

That really sucks, because I would really like the option of sticking with 16 pads and layering. You get some nice variations and happy accidents from splitting slices across layers and either round robining or randomizing them.

A couple of people on KVR have mentioned to an FXpansion rep that they'd like to limit the slice number so perhaps it'll come in an update.

are the get geist 2 and get 2 packs only for new full packages or also for upgrades?

doesn't really matter but would be nice to know.   I'll buy the upgrade regardless, it's only $85 at JRRShop.

Works for upgrades too!  I got the last two I hadn't yet bought.

Tip:   Dark Matter or the Analogue Mayhem are my least favorite packs.
