BTW. While AZ Controller community is a tiny subset of Sonar community, if someone has thoughts which DAW should be the next home for my project, may be we can have a success convincing corresponding developers. I do not need much from them, in fact they do not have to do nothing at all. All major players have Surface Integrations APIs which they use to support controllers, they just do not make these APIs public. There is a good reason, plug-ins like AZ Controller can damage/freeze/make unstable the DAW, including project corruptions. Not far away from the possible VST triggered damages, but still. Also, unlike VST, these APIs are dynamic, they change from version to version (Cakewalk has just stopped the development of its API long time ago, that is why all modern Sonar features can not be controlled).

With equal opportunity, accessible DAW will have my priority. While I know only one user for which that is relevant, one is not zero. I have made X3 accessible for him, with his plug-ins of choice and the controllers of choice. And I plan to do the same in case we switch to another DAW.

At the moment, the only DAW which fits is the Reaper. It has open API and accessibility binding. But as I wrote, the future of AZ Controller is not yet planed.

Thanks you Alexey for all your hard work for this forum and SONAR MIDI users.
It's very appreciated
All the best.

Alexey,

How about Harrison Mixbus?

BTW, I'm one of the many who is very grateful to you.

Thanks and praise,

Geoff

I also want to thank Alexey, my AlphaTrack works great with SPlat using AZ Controller.

I'm leaning towards moving to Reaper. One of the reasons is that their public Surface Integration API has enabled another developer to create a dll specifically for the Alphatrack that makes it work very well with Reaper. I'll bet Alexey could do even better, so I would encourage him to move to Reaper!

If I had a vote, I would say Studio One... it seems more Sonar users "might" migrate to that program, based on what I've seen posted in the last few days.  I don't own it, so I don't have a horse in the race, but I would be willing to give it a try if Alexey was on board...  And thanks again for your labor of love!
Salud!

Mixbus is based on Ardour, Ardour is open source... So that is an option. But from opinions on this forum, i have thought that Mixbus is not so good as "all in one" DAW. Ardour can not be declared obsolete by anyone, I mean that is strong plus.

I'm leaning towards moving to Reaper.

My current favorite: full featured DAW, not expensive, with API and accessibility solutions. I was not really excited when I have demoed it some time ago, it was a kind of "slow" (on my old PC) and somehow "programming oriented" (lol... not more than AZ Controller).

Lets wait what they answer. But unlikely they are going to allow someone make "concurrence" to there hardware from eBayed 30 years old Yamaha/Tascam consoles

Yeah, you're probably right about that with Presonus considering they already have integrated integrated hardware... ;(   too bad.

I made a short video of me trying to find my way around in Mixbus.

I had some troubles that I don't think are typical >>
Mouse not triggering things I was clicking on.
I should have used a stereo track rather than a mono track caused the output to be in mono.

I've got some things to work out yet, but it was fun to make a new video.

Alexey . . . I'll also add my many thanks for helping to make my Novation Impulse 61 . . . less lame  . . . with your amazing software solution for Cakewalk Sonar, it just works all the time the way it should. I'm really in appreciation of the time you spent (as well as others noted on your site [Hermu] who helped with this) I'm glad to know you're on the Plan B site, I'll be happy to follow any future progress there.

There was definitively something wrong with the system response... I recently had close to the same several times and that was graphic card related.

Features are sometimes hard to find. But once found... f.e. I have decided to demo Reaper again and this time "discovered" pre-fader automation. Well. I am almost sold I have seen tutorials before, where drawing clip volume automation (in Sonar terminology) immediately change the waveform. Not sure which DAW was used, but Reaper has that.
