The only problem is that once you know Sonar ... it's hard to find a good reason to use Cubase ... lol !

I like a lot in Sonar but they'll never have usable DAW notation and I need that.  It's really hard to change DAW's but since X1 they keep reinventing the wheel and I keep having to relearn things I've been doing for years so If I'm constantly having to relearn everything anyway I might as well make the switch.

i'm not sure that the actual software doing the conversion (vegas or another); they call the same codecs anyways right? 

If ever anyone has a specific codec and settings to suggest, that keeps Sonar happy and responsive, let us know !

I still use Any Video Converter (Free program) for simple and quick conversions.  I always use WMV, because that's the only format that seems to work consistently in Sonar 64.

When I'm done I line up the audio in the original film, in Vegas, or Quicktime Pro.

As far as the actually handling of video, X2 seems to work the same as 8.5 and X1.  So not sure what's going on in your case Randy.
