it seems to me that when i switch to economy mode the graphik responses too slowly
and sometimes even the pc freezez.
maybe fauilure inside of visual basic coding dont know???
maybe the timeout of sonar for new tasks in Sonar is too short
so it crashes
while playback adding a module inside of pro channel causes crashes too.
i tried to solve this problem by myself but no chance
so someone could help me out annoying situation.
thanks

Sonar may not behave properly if your system can't keep up with it.

Most people suggest you set your system to maximum, uninterruptable operation if you want to minimise problems.

You don't say what your system is, but it should be pretty powerful.

Since the problem apparently only occurs in "economy mode," it would appear that you have managed to find a solution yourself: do not use "economy mode."

Since "economy mode" is not Windows jargon, it suggests this is not a windows setting. There are other utilities that have similar features (TuneUp Utilities for one, some proprietary laptop apps etc.) and if you are using something like that, you need to ask them why their app is causing the problem. But even if you are using Windows settings this is not surprising.

Power saving settings are designed to extend battery life in laptops, where the use they are designed to support are things like office applications or continuously streaming video from the disk etc. They may be shutting off hard drives, sleeping the processor etc. when they detect a drop in demand, and the time it takes to get out of those shut down states when demand goes up is going to kill any real time data stream, like audio. They are also notorious for introducing DPC latency spikes.

You are probably not going to be able to use a laptop for extended audio editing on an airplane using battery, and of course it would be silly to use those settings on a desktop. Sonar and similar programs can not be designed for this kind of use without major sacrifices in capability. As MS is so fond of saying this is "by design."

first of all thanks for the helping hands.

operating system is win8
and why i switch (lower) energy
is:
for an example
starting a new project with drums why should my pc run at full speed for several hours when it only needs 2 or 3 % cpu power.
and my pc is really powerfull alot of stuff connected.
and it took me almost 2 month for setting up win 8.
now it works almost perfect
no bluescreen etc etc...
am i crazy? tune up uttilities
no no my system runs perfectly.
expect this lill problem THAT I HAVE. (energy)
one thing is funny
on intel systems sonar runs perfectly
but on AMD systems there are happening some funny things like freeze etc etc...
my old intel netbook 1,6ghz
can handle most of the tasks much better as my  big system.
on the big system when i run @normal speed(energy) everything is fine except
pro channel BUG.
i call it bug because somewhere i read that i am not the only person
that has this problem.
what i try to build up is a perfect working system
which is economical for mothernature and my pocket :-)
and believe me i am not stupid
i know my system very well.
and it SEEMS to me that sonar has problems with FEW SYSTEMS.
especially AMD.
Something with graphic card resources and commands adressing whatever dont know i am not a programmer i am a musician.

@bart
why don't ask the other company for a sulotion*??
okay i tell you why because only sonar makes me headaches
not big headaches but headaches.

another example you buy a car with four wheels after two hour you loose one of the wheels.
What would you do???
where would you complain or ask for help???

i am outta germany and my english is not perfect
so plz do not miss intrepret me.

PEACE!!!

When your cpu shows 3%, you are using approximately 3% of the total energy that the cpu can consume. Economy mode is not saving you energy it is causing you problems. You are asking sonar to merge onto the autobahn at 35 km/h.   :-)

Me too sometimes. I have approximately 150 applications running on various computers, but none of them (except for very large image file manipulation with photoshop) put anything like the demands on the machines that Sonar does. The power saving modes built into windows 8 (and probably unwisely set as default) are compatible with most processes, and will not cause major problems with them. But Sonar can be a monster in terms of processing, and moving data, and by its nature audio processing while you listen is very intolerant of sharing. If spell check on your word processor has to pause a few milliseconds to share (actually share in windows typically means suspend and switch to the competing demand then restart) resources with another program, you will not notice anything happening at all. The same thing happening with an audio stream may well show up as a dropout.

Just to be clear, this is not a problem unique to Sonar, it affects all similar software. Peruse this from a competitor and see what they recommend.

AUTOBAHN 35 km :-)
yep thats what i try
since sonar 8 i did not use my old netbook.
only for testing i installed it on the old 1.6 single core netbook.
abra cadabra
it ran fantastic
so why i can not get the same results with a much much much more powerfull pc, that was my thoughts untill now.

@ Bart thank you very much for the link
its explaining exact the problem, so its not new the problem.
now i know it is not only Sonars problem
but in my case it was sonar
so i can't ask company XY
i gotta ask hear at the forum
now i see thinks clearer
at least i hope so.
and before i installed sonar on my netbook i even uninstalled sonar from the big system.
so i am honest and proud to be me. :-)
i love sonar but i am not a fanboy.
i have been using Sonar for several years now
and i am happy wit it.
but if a problem occurs
and as you know sooner or later everybody gets some trouble with software because of hardware inompatiblity or something like that.
and just asking for help does not mean i am talking BAD about Sonar.
next time i will try to fix MY PROBLEMS on my own again.
i think my english is too bad for a good conversion
speaking three languages aint easy

once again thanks for your help
especially for the very usefull link.
