+1 to Scott's Sonar Power books.  X1 Power lives next to my DAW along with Roey Izhaki and Mike Senior's books on mixing.  X2  Power will join them one day, no doubt.

Thanks, JB! I appreciate you having my books in your studio.

I consider all this "long not so much saying videos" useless. It is better to spend time working in software than watching about its function in some video. 90% of those videos doesnt saying anything important, if you dont know how some functions work, try google it or use help file it is much faster and we all know time is money.

I could not disagree more. As a matter of fact, I am glad I purchased both Grove 3 and SWA videos! First and foremost you will learn things that you will not discover by trial and error. Both videos have a different teaching style. and they come with very experienced teachers.

The videos are more than this thing does this or this thing does that. They taught me tips and tricks that save time and money. The knowledge in the videos is worth the investment.

I purchased older versions of Scott's books and the power series that he puts out is a great asset as well. I need to pick up his current Sonar Power book for X2.

Trust me, These resources will teach you things you will not learn on your own through trial and error.

I watch the videos, read the books and play with the software. Sometimes it doesn't help. :-)

Sometimes it does.

FBB's SWA tutorial is good. I like to watch the videos at high speed and skip to the chapters I care about. I use the VLC Media player to watch. Then I can select chapters by name and watch at whatever speed I like.

I think I've bought all the videos and they all have something to offer. I really like X2 Advanced and another earlier X2 one by Craig Anderton. Lots of the stuff in there is also here...
http://www.soundonsound.com/search?page=1&Keyword=sonar%20notes

but I loved his videos just because of the ideas he batted around. A lot was above my head but still so cool.

FBB's SWA (carl) was at a slower pace but still cool as it focused on the fx.

The books are awesome... Sonar Power. I have 3... and another Sonar for Guitarists book. All cool. And mastering by ?? Katz. That's a good one too.

I can only echo what has already been said.  I have seen both videos and as is often said "a picture is worth a thousand words"
For me, as a newbie to recording and Sonar in particular, I found both videos very helpful in their own ways.  I am very much a 'show me how to do that' sort of person, so the videos have have been both informative and instructional.

The SWA is very much informative as well as showing how things are done, and it comes with a complete time sheet of all the various chapters on the video (which I believe is about 9 hours long?)

The Groove 3 Video is more of an instructional video and is presented in small 'bite sized' pieces which you can view and then go off and try it for yourself.

Both videos cover all the basics and the more in depth issues.  Neither Video is a 'quick reference' tool though.  For that I will turn to Scott's X2 Power book (when I get it!!)
