Yeah, I'm pretty cautious too but these folks have treated me very well - can't go into detail - and in this case perhaps your loss.

I assure you it's no loss to me, Larry.  I've dived in very deep already.

For example, I can't mute clips with one button any more - I have to deal with a menu -> slower.

Geno

Geno, you can mute clips by hitting the letter K.  In previous versions it was the letter Q.  This is just one more example of the myriad of small, inexplicable changes that were made to X1.  Keyboard shortcuts can be found in the help menu.  So much angst could have been spared if CW would have simply explained that the operating system had been radically changed in the first place.  And, then, a map of those changes might have saved a lot of grief.  I would suggest that if CW ever makes such a radical change in the future, they provide a demo program first so that users can test drive the product before sinking their money into the program.  So far, changing the way we access certain functions has been the biggest pain, but better stability with Windows 7 and 64 bits has been the biggest gain.
Stay thirsty, my friends,
Lynn

Thanks Lynn.  Usually if there is a shortcut key it is shown on the menu pulldown next to the menu item, and nothing was there so I assumed there wasn't one.  That's good to know.

You're right, the shortcut keys are missing from my pulldown menus.  Another lost feature or function.  Another thing I've noticed is that before in the key binding menu, the shortcuts were listed.  In X1, some are listed and some aren't.  I think they imported the ones you've created in an earlier version but not the new ones CW created for X1.  Oh well, I'm starting to learn from my mistakes.

I would like to add that I think the key bindings config dialog is hard and slow to use.  My opinion of it has declined even further since I suggested a graphic UI for it.  With the current design I feel like I'm trudging through mud just to find out what keys are set to what commands.

This area was not well designed or thought out.  A redesign is definitely in order.

It wouldn't hurt to have a search box in it.

The key binding configuration box is way too small.  It ought to be able to be expanded like most other windows.  A search box might help if you know what you're looking for.  Often, because of the nomenclature, I don't know what I want until I see it or I've tried it.  This is nothing different with X1, however.

Agreed, John.

The current "Locate Key" button is nearly useless.  I want to see what keys are assigned and what are not, and quickly.

We also need a "search for commands" function to show the keys (if any) that are assigned.

The current design involves waaay too much scrolling!

And one last thing.  Allow keysets that can be saved and exported/imported.  A lot of people have to go from studio to home computers.  I would be livid if I had more than one computer to configure.

They can, the import / export buttons are right there in the dialog box.
