I need to increase the tempo on a stereo WAV file by a few beats per minute. The current tempo is 100. Is there a way to do this? If not, is there another program I can get that would achieve this?
 
I've done a search on this subject but only found a few threads dating back to previous versions of Sonar that don't offer anything I can use. I read through the recent thread on synconizing audio with midi, but that's not what I need to do. I tried a few of the suggestions anyway, with no useful results. It seems like it would be a simple procedure, but maybe not. 
 
I'm working in Sonar X2 Producer with Windows 7 on a Sweetwater Creation Station. I have the Scott Garrigus book Sonar XI Power, but haven't found what I'm looking for in there. It might be there, but I haven't found it. Sometimes I don't know what the function I'm looking for is called.

Select the clip and press "A" on your QWERTY keyboard.
Then select "Clip follows Project"

Ctrl+drag the end of the clip backward - that will time-compress it by whatever amount you choose.  A percentage should display in the clip header.

Beware of the fact that you can end up with artifacts in the music. I would imagine you have a safety back up before you do any heavy rendering. 
My experience with trying this with audio has always ending up with a compromised sounding track. If it is just a drum loop you might be OK. But a full mix might become wonky. Listen carefully and be ready to hit undo. 

After using Ctrl+drag to change the tempo. You will then need to 'bounce to clips' This will get rid of the artifacts and typical glitches.

Just that 1: This process is destructive....so work with a copy of the original.
              2: You cannot go to far from the original tempo without sounding too strange anyways.

Thanks for the relpies. I tried the suggestions and was able to speed up the track, however it did leave artifacts. I haven't tried simpleman's suggestion to bounce to clips yet, but I'm hopeful that it will remedy the artifact problem. I was almost resigned to recutting all the audio tracks, but hopefully the bounce to clips step will do the trick. I'll try it tomorrow when I have time. 
 
I learned long ago to make backup copies of everything before trying anything I'm unsure of. I learned the hard way, so I appreciate the advice from those who gave it.
 
There sure is a learning curve on X2. I was using Sonar 8 until a few weeks ago. I'm still hunting for things and figuring out the logic of the changes. I think I'll like X2 when I get more familiar with it. It's a bit frustrating so far.
