cantible has limitations though... wav and midi file support only.  if you want to play a rex file for example, you need to load it into a synth to play back.  matrix view in sonar can load several file types, so it's a bit more flexible there.

thanks again all,
good point about sonar vs. cantibile.
(valuable heads-up about vernacular as as well)
it's a work in progress and i no doubt will be trying
a whole lot of different methods, etc.
i would like to add that there seems to be much
less static on the CW forums than some other sites
i've been to.
cool..     m.r.

I have used Brainspawn's Forte for many years now, and find it to be an excellent VST host for live performance.

They have a demo you can download and try, although it doesn't let you save presets.  It is quite powerful, however, and worked flawlessly for me.  It is incredibly good at managing CPU, in how it deals with swapping out synths that are not used on a given preset- which means you can build pretty large racks of loaded instruments and survive the CPU load that would otherwise bog you down.

Please note that the current 64-bit release does not let you load 32-bit instruments.  I have both the 32 and 64 bit versions installed, and I can always build a rack for tunes that require any of my older 32-bit synths.  (not many of those left in my inventory).

Bob, you haven't tried using J-Bridge?

I just didn't bother with J-Bridge, because I don't do much anymore with any 32-bit stuff.

Thanks, though.

cool, just wondered...if you ever "feel the need" to load up an old fav that is still on 32b give J-Bridge a try..I have found it rock solid, and Cantabile (and I assume Forte as well) simply makes an auto J-Bridged connection whenever a 32b is chosen..
