I had an older monitor with a lower 4:3 resolution.  Folks here convinced me I needed to move into the 21st century and get something vaguely current.  I popped for a $129 ViewSonic VA2112M 22" LED monitor on Amazon which takes me to 1920x1080.  This makes SONAR X1 much more manageable.  Well worth the dough.  And also I set my Task Bar to autohide to give me a bit more vertical real estate.

As soon as you have another $129 handy, buy another one! Having two side by side feels luxurious....you could even have the second one way over to the side if you want to retain a short distance between your monitors. I find it's great to use the 2nd monitor for the multidock and open plugin windows. Full screen console FTW....
