Hi Folks,
 
Its been a good long while.
Sonar user since: "Cakewalk Pro Audio 9", (Guitar Studio, Pro Tracks, Sonar 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 8.5).
 
As the post states I'm recently coming from Sonar Producer 8.5 to Sonar X2.
 
At first glance (literally 60 seconds), I'm quite fear full and totally lost as even the most basic of menus are quite different it seems.
 
So with that said can anyone direct me to video or written content that might help the "old school" sonar user get up to speed with what is now "Sonar X".
 
Sorry to ask outright as I'm sure there are plenty of posts on the topic, but I'm gearing up for 3 separate projects and I need to get up to speed pronto, research is a luxury at the moment. I need to decide if these current projects are worth moving over, or if I should leave them in 8.5..
 
I'm guessing the typical "learning/training"players are still active ie. Scott Garrigus and Craig Anderton.  Ill be looking them up shortly to see what sort of learning content they have produced. And I guess now is as good a time as any to dig through all the previous "digi freq" newsletters that have gone out over the past 3 or 4 years. lol. But with that said can anyone point me to some "get started quick" style content to help me get to know my way around. Stuff that can help me transpose my "Sonar Producer 8" workflow to "Sonar X" at lightning speed.

Yip. Right outta the gate I'm not finding the synth rack. This is gonna be a bit rough me thinks. :)

For others. Cakewalk University http://www.cakewalk.com/CakeTV/SONARU.aspx seems a good place to start. Although the content there is pretty far ahead of my point in transition.

I moved from Sonar 6 to X1 and then X2, so I feel for you.  Most of the menus are still there, but there are now section specific menus.
 
If you had time I'd say grad Scott's X2 Power when it comes out soon, but you said you were short of time.  His X1 book helped me a lot.  Also Groove 3 and SWA X2 videos are good if you had more time.

The synth rack is now in the browser.  By default it's on the right. Click on the tad at the top that looks like a keyboard, and there it is.  If you can't see the browser, hit "b" on your qwerty keyboard.  If you're not sure what the browser is, keep hitting "b" - it's the thing that keeps appearing and disappearing.
 
When I first opened X1 I was completely lost.  Now I love it, so it's well worth the effort, IMHO.

There are many great resources to help you transition and to get comfortable. I think the Groove3 X2 Explained tutorial is fantastic for what you're asking about.

Sweet! I'm looking good, I've got my track view, my piano roll, my synth rack, and my console view. That wasn't so bad. I will say that this new interface "feels" rock solid, as in rugged. Its incredibly responsive and snappy.
