I think plethora went out of business a few years ago. They lost money on every plugin but tried to make up for it with higher volume. Or level.

Soundwise
MAGIX Independence free is very good. Great drums (if you use extended map). Very nice e-pianos, basses, guitars. Plus some synth sounds and ethnic percussion. Pretty much everything to get started.
