Amazon takes 30% and they also foster competition by informing all of your competitors exactly what you're doing and what your prices are. My friend sells a lot on Amazon but nothing like he could if he bought the cheap Chinese crap equivalent parts.
Well the way I look at it is, your prices aren't exactly secret information so you might as well presume that your competitors know them anyway. And that 30% is probably worth it to take out the need for storage & shipping. Very easy to get lost in a sea of Amazon sellers and make nothing, which is why you have to really think about what you're selling and how you're selling it. It's certainly not a guaranteed get rich quick scheme, but for someone with a marketing savvy head on their shoulders, good ideas and some money to invest, it's an opportunity to shift a lot of units without having to spend a lot of the time and money associated with running a physical retail operation.
