Of course I don't. Gibson sold us out...

Why am I not surprised?

I guess they see it as teaching us a valuable lesson about trust!

I was wondering when we'd hear from you, Jerry. Curious as to your plans. I know you briefly looked at Reaper. My guess is you'll head to Cubase. That would be a good fit for you. I thought about it, but I don't think I qualify for the crossgrade, as i only have 8.5. which is only right i suppose.

if you got 2 years out of it ? that covers what some other daws cost yearly.. pretty much?

if you have 30k+ on a car and had been slighted. e.g. ECU that has "magic" emissions test programming.. different thing.. I get that.. hire perry mason, get columbo on the case...

people are getting a bit mardy , yet did get the updates for 2 years... "lifetime" of product.. people don't get that.
and they assumed they could do what FL do with their model, when they brought it in.

it makes me wonder how many years folks have used pro audio stuff. I've been "burnt" by vendors 4 times now since 2000.. and all that did that, are still in business..

iif you claimed the money back as a "business expense" = it was free, in principle.

the good news , all my 8 bit micros like c64 , apple 2 etc.. work fine 25 years on.. while I've been thru loads of pc's.. and software for said pc's that stopped working.

read the new about gibson in the past year.. they closed a guitar factory the other month.. and they have big money issues. you can't keep a place open without any money to run it.

I'm wondering if the folks who just renewed their subscription when they had their "sale" in October if they will get their money returned.  It's probably very likely Gibson knew they were shutting down Cake by that point, so to accept money for services that were never going to be delivered seems highly unethical.  I don't think the people at Cake are at fault for that, as they were probably blindsided, but the folks at Gibson sure are.

I'll be reinstalling Digital Performer but will continue to use Sonar until the hardware and/or software doesn't support it anymore. Cubase's ergonomics do not appeal to me. I am playing around with Reaper. DP is the DAW most like Sonar so that's most likely the DAW I will end up using.

I got ten months of updates which is not even what is included in a regular upgrade, so I'd say that in terms of the "lifetime" updates I got nothing at all.

However, I am realistic enough to know that the lifetime updates were only ever going to be the odd bug fix and pretty basic stuff, so as long as the promised self activation key is delivered then I won't lose too much sleep over it.

SONAR was too cheap. Livetime update and then installing on many computers.
Steinberg Cubase needs a Dongle for every computer, and every update has to be payed - for EVERY computer I use. When I use Cubase on 3 computer - at the same time - I have to pay 3 licences and 3 x updates.
I would have payed also for SONAR - because I earn my money working with SONAR. I also pay 60$ per month to Adobe.
