  • A question about organizing Waves plugins....

Ok, so I have a good bit of Waves plugins...some of them I know and use and many others I haven't even encountered yet. I want to organize them in folders...Compressors, channel tools, EQ's, etc....anyways this seems to be quite a painstaking task to do as I can only seem to move one plug at a time into personalized folders as I stated above. Is there a way to do this quicker OR do maybe one of you have an organized list I could shamelessly steal?? I have the Mercury Bundle. I will take any advice to speed this up...it is a PITA to have to go plug by plug...thanks in advance as always!

I have a ton of waves plugs too. It is a painstaking task. It took me time to create the categories and move everything in it's respective place. I was able to move at least two plugs at once to a folder and  though it doesn't save much time it helps.

My folder structure is as follows:

Waves
    Eq
       API
       JJP
        VEQ
         Etc.

     Dynamics
        API
        JJP
        CLA
        Etc.

All the categories Took a lot of time. I don't envy you.

This is sad...and yes I meant to mention I could move 2 at a time...I got through some tonight and apparently this is going to take a few days! I guess it is what it is. You would think the Bakers would have made this interface a little more user friendly...I mean at least be able to Ctrl-click and drag what you need...ugh...

In Plugin Manager/ registered plugins you can hold Ctrl+click to select multiple plugins then select 'Add Plugin'.
I'll send you this Waves Mercury .pgl file if you want it, pm if you do.

I appreciate the help fellas..I'll eventually sort it out. Can you select more than 2 plugs at a time, Carl? I can only do 2...

Frosty..

By holding down "Ctrl" and selecting the plugins in the Plugin Manager you can select as many plugins as you want..

Also, if they are consecutive in order you can select the first plugin, hold down the shift key and select the last plugin
and it will automatically select all the plugins in between....a quick and easy way to select ALL the API, all the JJP, etc...
as they are listed alphabetically.....makes it a whole lot faster...and they can be combined...you can select consecutive
plugins with the SHIFT method...then hold down the "Ctrl" key and select other plugins that are not listed consecutively
to combine...

Cheers!

Well...what I did was dump all my Waves into a folder. Then I started adding sub-folders. Apparently, within the folders you can only select 2 at a time...I really did this wrong I guess...I might go back to the drawing board today...

Select the plugins you want to add from the 'registered plugins' box, select 'Add Folder' to make an empty folder, name that empty folder & open it. Then start adding the selected plugins with the 'Add Plugin' button.

I'd also suggect saving a few copies of the file.
You can make a master file with all your plugins then make other selective plugins files (i.e. Waves only, Mastering, Mixing etc..) just by deleting the unwanted folders & saving them to a new file.
The extra copies come in handy if you screw it up.

If you are using the same plugins you can share the plugin layout files. Just export the .pgl file and send it. The recipient should copy the layout to the plugin layouts folder.
That's how we create the default layouts for our plugins.
