Hello--

I'm about to demo jbridge because bitbridge keeps crashing and freezing, and hanging (seems like some good reasons to change).

My only challenge is that I am in the middle of a project and I can't afford any unintended consequences if I demo jbridge --  so, as usual, I'm coming to you.

How did you make the switch to jbridge? Did you wait until you were between projects--does it uninstall seamlessly if I have any issues?

Jao (sp?) from jbridge said I can choose which one I want to use per plug-in. The only thing left is getting the above answered from a Sonar user.

Thanks!

(PS) Why did you switch to jbridge? If because of issues with bitbridge, did jbridge solve them for you?

...bitbridge keeps crashing and freezing, and hanging...
The problems I once had with BitBridge disappeared after I updated it.  The cunning method I used to update BitBridge (as advised by Scook and Bitflipper on this forum) was by installing the trial version of Sonar X2.  This overwrites the existing version of BitBridge without otherwise affecting earlier installations of Sonar.  When the trial period expires don't uninstall X2.

I do not run bridge software often and do not own Jbridge because the only 32bit plugins that I (rarely) use are the few installed by SONAR X2 and they run OK with Bitbridge. Check your version of Bitbridge, the latest is 1.0.5.1185 modified 11/1/2009. Some things to try, change the BitBridge.exe to run as administrator and run in XP compatibility mode. Ultimately, the best solution if you are going run 64bit is not to run 32bit plugins. If you must use 32bit plugins, the 32bit version of SONAR is the best solution. Both 32 and 64 bit version can be installed at the same time. BTW, should you elect to try X2, you might want to deselect all the file extension bindings in the trial version install to prevent it from overwriting the bindings you already have defined.

Razor - I see from you signature you are still on Sonar 8.

I was not very sucessful in using 64 bit until I went to 8.5 where there were major improvments in Bitbridge and JBridge support was introduced into Sonar.

From 8.5 onwards using JBridge is simple, you just tick a box for each plugin you wish to use JBridge in Sonars Plug in Manager.

In Sonar 8, if I recall correctly you have to run the JBridger program which creates new DLLs The process is probably discribed on the JBridge site.

Wow--those are some awesome suggestions. It will be a while before I upgrade Sonar. I typically go with every 3rd major version *and* I just plunked down almost $600 to upgrade Wavelab.

I wanted to update/reinstall bitbridge when it first started misbehaving but I could never find a download of just that exe. Scook or anyone know where I can download just the current version of bitbridge?

Thank you all!
