Hi,

Is there a guide to set these two up somewhere. My control surface is no longer lighting up or operating like it used to since my upgrade...

Thanks

Go to options (hit p), Select(check the boxes)for the VS-100 under midi devices and controls, Go to the controller option and select Control(vs-100) for in and out and it should work great with X1, Mine does.
Hope this helps.

Nope, it doesn't. I just bought VS-100, set up the Audio driver correctly, assigned VS-100 as the only Control Surface that is available to my Sonar X2 PE, and the Control Surface area within the Hardware Unit does not responds correctly to anything that I touch. The Transport Control buttons are not lit, and when I press "Play" (or any other button within the "Control Surface area of the unit) I can only hear a MIDI note being triggered from my Kerzweil PC3x workstation.

I have double checked the Firmware version and it is a current one 1.50. So there is no need to update the firmware. I am trying to implement this VS-100 into my home studio environment where I run everything based on Windows 7 Utlimate 64-bit, with i7 Intel Processor, 12GB of RAM, Kurzweil PC3x workstation, and Sonar X2 Producer Edition.

I have read the Hardware Manual and the Gettin Started Manual, and there is nothing written about this particular problem I am facing within the Troubleshooting sections either. Since the similar problem was addressed by others (pressing a transport button actually triggers a MIDI note from your hardware synth connected to Sonar = no Transport function is being executed) I wonder if anybody came up with some kind of solution.

Based on the Hardware Manual of VS-100, after succesful instalation of the driver and proper assignment of the Control Surface within Sonar, the unit should perform without any problems, and when you press "Play" on VS-100 the current Sonar's project should act accordingly by starting the Playbak of the Project. Right?

So, is there anybody out there who has experienced such problems and found a solution for it? Thanks much for your help.

Is the ACT button lighting up on the VS-100?  If not, try pressing it to get it to light then transport buttons should work at least.

I’m not at my PC so this is from memory when you add the Controller/Surface make sure your InPort and OutPort show Control VS-100 not midi VS-100.

you need to go in to preferences/midi/control surfaces.
you need to add this device under your control surfaces, click the little start (this means new surface)
in the drop down list select: "vs-100"

if this has already been complete than you need to select the routing options for he control surface in this same screen.
a little drop down arrow next to the name of the unit: vs-100
select :daw control under both.

if you go in to your programfiles folder/ Roland you will see 3 pdf files in there, each explains use, presets and set up.
