All: Last night a client asked me to help him in his studio with X2. He had several take layers ... as an 8.5.3 hold out -this was the first time I used X2 in a production session - all was fine except ... Where's the "K" key for comping takes in X2? I know that is now the Q key for clip mute ... but all I wanted to do was select moments from takes to comp them. All of the documentation and workflow I could find surrounded promoting entire takes. I literally figured out everything in X2 in 45 minutes but this!!! I have searched documentation, this forum and other web sources, where am I going wrong. Best all - -D

Comping is now supposed to be done with the Mute Tool. I forget the exact method at the moment but with the mute tool you just click and drag over the parts you want audible and the rest of the clip is muted. I think you can apply fades and even bounce the unmuted portions to a continuous clip as well. I haven't been working this way though. I just crop stuff. Look up the Mute Tool sections in the manual and it should all be explained there. It's pretty easy.

Hey Don,

Pressing K is for muting/unmuting an entire clip.

Pressing Ctrl+1 isolates a clip selection while using lanes. So highlight a section of a clip and press Ctrl+1 to isolate (promote) that section.

Now that several of my students and clients are all X2, I will be purchasing X2 very soon.  I must admit it was 'thrilling' to learn the tool in realtime with clients sitting around - which is my preferred method of learning.  Everything I needed to do I was able to figure out.  As you mentioned with K became Q I knew I had to look elsewere, but the Isolate term doesn't show up anywhere in the Cake Documentation regarding lanes.
