Steve, thanks so much for the kind words.  You've helped me a lot in the past, and it's really appreciated.  As for the 5/4, it all started with the beginning bass line, and I just maintained it throughout the song.  Dave Brubek taught me that 5/4 can swing.

I don't know where I left off on commenting on this and I just got some new "proper" monitors. I'm still learning to listen on them so I may be way off.

First off, I hear a lot of cool things going on. It sounds like when the left and right instruments start playing, I hear compression kicking in. I think the two sides are to loud causing the compression sound. The bass seems loud as well. Maybe bringing the drums up will fix it.

Again, still learning the monitors but wow, the difference is cool.

Larry, thanks for dropping by and your kind worlds.   I've always loved unusual time signatures.  BTW, your version of "Chopstix" is priceless.

Robert, I mixed this on KRK Rokit 8's and Alesis Monitor One's (with the ARC 2 system), as well as my AKG 240 df headphphones.  No subs included.  I've listened on about a dozen different systems, and this is the best I can do as far as averaging the mix for all of them.  I didn't use much compression except for a few individual tracks.  Since this mix is still officially wide open, I'm curious to know which monitors your listened on.  I may have access to them, therefor, I could hear it the way you do, possibly.  Anyway, thanks for replying because you always go out of your way to help me.  Have a very happy and creative new year!

I'm have KRK Rokit 8s as well. I only just got them and my son just moved them for me. He makes sure their even for me. :-) I've been listening to CDs and online radio to get used to them. The difference is enormous. I haven't done the ARC2 measurement yet. I only wish ARC worked different. I wish it could be positioned last out of windows so everything is ARC'd. Then it won't matter about turning ARC off. I've noticed something about ARC as well. If you disable ARC and the bounce still goes through it, it's still affecting the sound. I've been keeping ARC on a bus after the Master bus and when I bounce, I change the master's output to my soundcard.

At any rate, YAY! Proper monitors!

Very late to this party...cool stuff Lynn, great 5/4 groove. I sometimes get a Greg Kihn/Steve Miller vibe from your stuff, and this is one of those. Quirky, dark pop/rock..like that a lot.

Cool song and playing. The lead vocal is slightly left instead of centered (listening in my cans). Maybe check your stereo image. You played great.  All the tones are there too.

Robert, a little secret:  I don't disable ARC when I export.  When I play my exported file from Sound Forge, it sound exactly as it does in Sonar.  Though the instruction advice against this, I find that it does no harm.

Tony, I sent you a link that should work, I hope.  Thanks for trying.

Clint, this is only the 4th song I've written this year, so I'm the lazy one.  I'm glad you liked it, as I like your new one.

James, after hearing your new song, I want to sound like Free and Foreigner.  Thanks for your time and comments.

Jimmy, thanks for replying.  You've helped me a lot over the last few years.  The vocal sounds OK here, but I'll keep listening whenever I play this elsewhere.  Thanks for your observation.  Happy new year to you and all my Sonar friends!

Really? It seems like your always doing something new. I used to wonder how a band could possibly take 4 or 5 years to make an album...well now I know. Life has a way of making other plans.
