I think the problem might be with the maudio delta 1010 drivers. I'm using the 64 bit Win 7 drivers on a Win 8 system.

I've upgraded my devices in the control panel to default to 24 bit for both playback and recording. I also have 24 bit selected in the preference files. But I'm still seeing 16 bit listed in X2

I think the root of my dropout problem resides in the 16 bit display vs. 24 bit. Not sure what I'm doing wrong to not see the 24 bit listed vs the 16 bit. Does anyone know how I can change this to read 24 bit?

You say you've checked preferences. Was that Preferences>File>Audio data ,

as well as

 Preferences>Audio>Driver settings ?

hey dave fellow maudio user here. uninstall the delta drivers and disconnect the delta. right-click the drivers and install in compatability mode for windows 7 as administrator. hook the delta back up. that should help.

+1

Also make sure the permissions are correct. Win 8 has a habit of locking everything down.

Yes I have. I also went back and forth to try WDM mode and ASIO. The project is not that large, around 16 tracks of audio. I checked each clip to see if one of them was 16bit and what I found was a mix of 32 bit and 24 bit clips. That puzzled me as well. I thought the clips would all be the same bit rate. Not sure how that happened...

This project was done in X2 / Vista64 and worked great. No problems. When I first loaded Win8, I played this project along with several others for about a week without dropouts. Then suddenly - dropouts about every 15 secs.

I will try this now. Hopefully that cures the problem.

<<This part of the problem is solved - thanks to Max and Tom. Dropouts are still there and stopping me from working>>

Back from uninstalling the delta drivers - disconnecting the delta and reinstalling the drivers -> reboot.

I'm still seeing the 16 bit display even on a blank project. Also notice the bit rate reads 24bit in preferences but is locked. ??

Thinking about reloading the Vista64 backup.

I'm slow today - just found this Max and Tom. Thanks, that fixed the display.

I was hoping it would correct the dropouts.

NO - still having dropouts throughout the song...

I'm wondering if the windows 8 apps which I don't use are causing this...  Have to go to work now, but I will trouble shoot this some more this evening.

Thank you to everyone who replied.

I would "rollback" until the Delta has "solid" Win 8 drivers.

In my case (FW-1884) that ain't gonna happen...
