I posted a thread about my midi keyboard not working unless I unplugged it and then plugged it back in a while back, and watching your video has just help me solve it.

Just got home from work and went straight to Studio, reviewed step sequencer in the help section. Found it and love it. In MC5 I was loading a pre-existing loop from studio instruments (still haven't found those) then use piano roll to edit fills, intros, and outs. This is way faster because I usually already know how I want the drum pattern. Is that still going to be the way to go edit fills and such? Or is there a better faster way to do it using the step sequencer? I was thinking load the pattern to the track and then go back edit the other stuff. Thanks again....you may or may not know how awesome this forum is to a noob like me Better go kiss the girlfriend now and tell her Hi!

X2 SONAR Studio comes with the "SI-Drum Kit" which is the new name for "Studio Instruments Drummer". If you follow the instructions in the video in the thread above http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2802474 (nice vid Charlie) and you do not see the MIDI patterns in "SI-Drum Kit" pattern browser, you might want to try an advanced install of X2 and resintall the "SI-Drum Kit". FYI, the "SI-Drum Kit" MIDI patterns are physically located in a hidden directory C:\ProgramData, the full path to the pattern directories is "c:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Studio Instruments\SI-Drum Kit\Patterns".

You should still be able to use the methods you were using in MC5 updated to the X2 interface. If you wish to incorporate the step sequencer into your workflow, do so. You can edit the MIDI clips in the PRV or step sequencer, whatever works best for you.
