You could also download X2 demo now for free, and play around with it for 30 days, if so inclined, and you have not done it already.

I will wait for 2b and then check it out.  I have a good feeling about 2b.  Cakewalk has been working on this X series for a while, and the fact that they are not even announcing it, is a good sign.  I think they really want to nail it this time.

Right now I have to finish my 8.5.3 project before I take the risk of loading something new.  So I think the timing will work out well.

im going to go out on a limb here and say......  ahhhhh...      no.
if there are bugs in sonar x2a that are productions stoppers and require a patch, well im not seeing them.
I have more productive with x2 then I have with any other daw so far to date.

and think about it, im not just saying this cause im a fan boi.
if there were show stoppers and I wasn't able to be productive, I would be the first person in here complaining,
I have before.

sorry but this daw is rippin, sure theres a few quirks here and there, but not production stoppers, nothing I would say, I cant work like this, or nothing I would say, this is slowing me down.
so the aim assist line doesn't read the right numbers, we worked without aim assist for how long ?

Im open for comment on 3 things that you feel shut you down from using this daw ?
or require a patch ?

don't attack me, I didn't attack you, I just said im open, why ?
because im curious and maybe im missing something that's all.

I'm with you chuckebaby. X2a is working great for me. The only crashes I've had were due to 3rd party plug-ins (32 bit ones at that) not playing nice. But I'm in the middle of a 5 song project with a local band and things are quite smooth.

I agree with comments above - X2a is quite stable for me.  Personally, I would goahead and upgrade now - who knows when X2b will be released and who knows if it will introduce new bugs.

The bottom line is - nobody on here knows a thing about when, or indeed IF, X2b will be released.

That's silly, there will be almost certainly be an X2B, and it's highly likely that's what Seth referenced when he said he had to go back to testing. When will that see release, probably soon based on recent history.

Do I know this for a fact? Obviously not, but by your logic could apply to any forward looking statement, like "bottom line is - nobody on here knows a thing about whether or not X2 will be the last version of Sonar and Cakewalk will focus exclusively on iOS apps." We don't know that for a fact after all, however it's highly unlikely.

dude, they just released the CA-2A ccompressor last month, who's to say he isn't testing another plug in, or maybe testing his his kids on spelling reviews ?  :)

you are reading way to much in to a statement.

the only thing im certain of is someday I will die and I will always be paying taxes.

so the only thing silly is someone saying nobody here knows and you replying:
"that's silly , there will be almost certainly be an X2B"

now that is silly.

I took jonesy statement for face value, "bottom line is: no one knows ....
no one does know.

I always find it amazing that people ask us "when will the next patch be released" as though we have a direct line to Cake HQ.

We don't, and we don't know. Only Cake know. When it's ready for release, it will be released.

They could, for all we know, be devoting all their activity towards an early X3 release, or new PC Modules,  (pure speculation of course)

What's silly is asking us, the users.

I would not wait for X2b to upgrade from 8.5 ....

Do it now, you *should happy you did ... !

X2a totally rocks here, and it's more stable than 8.5 ever was, don't let negative posts here influence your decision. People having problems reports to this forums ... and people not having problems with X2 are not posting here, they probably have a better time making music .. ;)

There will be a slight learning curve, but no big deal.

Cheers !
