I feel like X2b will come out and fix a lot of things, but I don't have faith it will fix the more common issues, which unfortunately aren't readily or easily produced. There seems to be a common paradox for software companies whereby they usually cannot recreate (or don't prioritize) issues that are typically easy to reproduce but aren't reported in the instructed way, or aren't ALWAYS reproduce-able. For example, and issue that several people report, but they don't submit a VERY accurate report with an accurate report of hardware/software configurations, may get lower priority than one that is quite obscure, but reported by a savvy user.

Lacking computer skills doesn't equal dumb.

I also don't have faith anything serious will be done with Layers or color options. I just see us as being disregarded, since Cakewalk has sold many thousands of copies, but only us are complaining. That's just my gut feeling. I'd love to be proved wrong here.

I know when it wil be! I know when it will be! I will be when it will be!..or not be...and why must it be b?? Can't it be C or Z??

As a software engineer myself, I can tell you that it is very important to us that we receive as much detail as possible about bugs and or strange behavior.  Often times I will send an email back to a user asking, OK, what where you doing, what did you have loaded, what were the exact steps you took that led you to the issue you are having...

Correct. I worked directly for some EE's and CE's at Adtran Inc. in Huntsville, years ago. It IS a tough thing to get all the necessary detail. However, my job was to take incomplete, or even rumored issues, and try to find a way to recreate the issues based on the incomplete information. It was very important for us to spend time finding issues like those. In fact, my success rate was over 85% that I could recreate the issue, or even better, turn up more than just the one. It tremendously aided our abilities too be one of the top Telecomm equipment providers in the world. Unfortunately, not all companies work the same way. I can't speak for Cakewalk, but seeing the Release notes throughout X1, I don't get the indication that this is in their QA process.

dude, they just released the CA-2A ccompressor last month, who's to say he isn't testing another plug in, or maybe testing his his kids on spelling reviews ?  :)

you are reading way to much in to a statement.

the only thing im certain of is someday I will die and I will always be paying taxes.

so the only thing silly is someone saying nobody here knows and you replying:
"that's silly , there will be almost certainly be an X2B"

now that is silly.

I took jonesy statement for face value, "bottom line is: no one knows ....
no one does know.

I don't know that the sun is going to rise tomorrow, but it will. So allow me to break down why I'm convinced there will be an X2B, and that it will be released soon...

1. Seth's post could mean he's testing something else. But maybe it could also mean that he's testing X2B, now factor in...

2. On January 8th a received two emails from Cakewalk on bugs I reported. The first said one bug had been moved to development, the second bug had been marked as resolved. This was after X2A released, which makes sense that they'd have started working on X2B. Could they be holding off until X3? Possible, but unlikely.

3.  Late-February to mid-March is when B releases normally come out. Just like mid-September to early-October is when main releases come out, with the first major patch in December. If you've been a Cakewalk user for a while, none of this should be news. You can pretty much set your clock to it.

4. I've been a Sonar user since version one, most releases go to around a C patch. Only one that I can think of ever stopped at A. So the odds are in favor of more than one release for X2, especially considering...

5. There's a number of bugs in X2, and a number of features that need some extra polishing. These exist in every release, but my point is: if X2A were perfect, then maybe there'd be no reason to make an X2B. However, there's still plenty to do...

So yeah, based on a combination of facts, logic, assumptions, and just good ole analysis, I stand by my comment that it's highly unlikely that the last version of X2 will be X2A. You can think none of the above adds up, but I'm comfortable that all signs are pointing to X2B arriving shortly.

I would not wait for X2b to upgrade from 8.5 ....

Do it now, you *should happy you did ... !

X2a totally rocks here, and it's more stable than 8.5 ever was, don't let negative posts here influence your decision. People having problems reports to this forums ... and people not having problems with X2 are not posting here, they probably have a better time making music .. ;)

There will be a slight learning curve, but no big deal.

Cheers !
