Hi there all,

I am one of those blessed guys that has never had a flaw with sonar on any version including X2. I've had my issues with changes but no bug issues. Until now with waves silver deal. I paid $250.00 and every time I load up an FX in the bin, it crashes my sonar and I have to reboot to reload sonar. Hopefully I can get a refund if this is not resolved.

But... has anyone bought and gotten waves silver working?

Are you running Sonar in 64 bit or 32 bit?  What are your system specs?

I have the Waves Gold Package which was crashing everytime I'd use a plugin. I figured it was a 32 bit to 64 bit bridging issue as the plugins were loading as 32 bit instead of 64 bit which I knew I had installed.  I had to manually remove the 32 bit version of Waves so Sonar would only see the 64 bit version, which stopped the crashing.

X2a update really helped with the crashing on my system.  I also had a problem with Waves crashing in Sonar, but not ProTools.  Make sure you have X2"a" installed

I was quite suprised when I received this email offer.

I mean, since X1 a big selling point has been the Pro Channel and it's modules which aren't vst. Now Cake has gone full circle and selling a 3rd party vst pack along side it's Pro Channel packs.

Don't get me wrong it's a great deal and we all like more gear, but this thinking did take be my suprise.

Thanks
Dean

Skarda,

I'm having the same issues as you, with both X1 and X2. I run Windows 7 64-bit with 64-bit versions of Sonar.  I'm currently working through it with Cakewalk support. Uninstalling and re-installing the C++ redistributables (2005 through 2012) has changed the error I get - it's now a DLL having to do with graphics that's causing me problems. I've sent off a System Info file and minidump files to Cakewalk Support and am waiting to hear back....

I was tempted by this offer until I read this. Being in the UK it also costs £199 which is way more than the dollar to pound conversion rate, I really don't get why that is. Still a good deal I guess

My problem with the Waves plugins has been resolved (both X1 and X2 would crash if I closed a plugin's popup window.)

The solution was to uninstall and reinstall all the Microsoft C++ Redistributable libraries (2005 through 2012) and update the graphics driver on my Lenovo T500.

I am able to now use the plugs in X1 and X2.

Not sure if this new behavior, but X2 kinda freaks out when creating a new project. Right-clicking doesn't work and the screen doesn't refresh properly. Switching screensets seems to fix the issue. Looking forward to X2b....

Thanks for some input HOWEVER. I tried everything for over 3 hours today. I uninstalled all the c++ stuff and reinstalled all the versions. I also unisalled waves silver 3 times and reinstalled. with reboots inbeween each thing and I still get the same error. I am pissed that I've spent $250 with 2 hours yesterday and 3 hours today and nothing... If there are any other suggestions, please tell. I hoping to get a refund tomorrow if I cant get it working... All I can say is every encounter I ever have with Waves, Protool, and Apple has been bad. How the "i" devices made it, i'll never know. It's the old saing of, if you charge more, people think its better.
