If you don’t know what SONAR Plus is, there’s no need to read on!
You may have been wondering why it’s been quiet on the SONAR Plus front recently. Well, there's good news and bad news...
First the good news. As you may know, I put a lot of work into SONAR Plus last year. It obviously made an impression on Cakewalk because, a few weeks ago, I was delighted when they got in touch and offered me a job! I happily accepted, and I’m soon to become a full time Baker! This is a fantastic opportunity to do some good from within, which is obviously preferable to ‘hacking’ from the outside.
That leads me to the bad news. Now that I'm working full time with Cakewalk I won't have the resources to maintain SONAR Plus anymore, so with regret I’ve decided to discontinue support for it. It will, however, still be available for download as unsupported freeware. While there are no official plans to incorporate SONAR Plus features into SONAR, of course, maybe I can convince the team to sneak in a feature or two.
To those of you who have come to rely on it, I can only hope you understand my reasons for making this decision. It wasn’t an easy one. I hope SONAR Plus made your life a little easier during its brief outing.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped me develop SONAR Plus. Keni , Stacy and many others who thoroughly tested it, Panu for generously hosting the SONAR Plus forum, and Cakewalk who had every right to shut me down but chose to turn a blind eye.
Best wishes,
Ben
Ps. A few people were kind enough to make donations towards the upkeep of SONAR Plus. I’d like to offer them a full refund. When things calm down a bit, I’ll attempt to track them down. In the meantime, if you’re one of those people and you would like a refund, feel free to PM me.
