Just this week, when I load Sonar 8.5 Producer (8.5.2.222) It stalls at the boost 11.dll. It eventually loads the program (after 3 or 4 minutes) and Boost 11 works, but I am curious as to why the change? Any ideas?

Only thing I could think of is your having computer memory issues.

A tip, don't use boost 11, I found it could easily distort tracks. I use the 64 Multi Band ( or what ever it's called) , Way more control of the results.
It's a hog so I keep it turned off when tracking.

Did some messing around with the memory issues, thanks, it seems to have helped. I do like Boost, but I use it minimally, in other words just a little bit in the red. It can be too powerful and distorted. I use the Vintage Channel 64 and like it a lot. Thanks!

Also, its not necessary to rescan your VSTs at startup. Its a waste of time really. You only need to do a scan when you add a new VST.

Mine seems to automatically scan them. How do I change that? Thanks.

Mine scans too, only takes 3 secs so no biggy, but the toggle is in Global/ VST plug ins.

As I said I use the LP 64 multiband.
The reason is 1 channel compressors loudness maximizers  like Boost11 squash the whole mix , if the bass is hot all the mix goes down with it. A multi band separates this and only the bass or the ?? will be squashed, The result is a mix that still has dynamics. It's a mastering tool so I only use on master buss.

My other reason is it quickly will show which fequencys are too hot, I can then go to the tracks and deal with it there with EQ or a individualize compressor. The end result is a nice loud mix over the whole spectrum

Best free maximizer is probably LoudMax.

+1,

I use that in Wave Lab when I want to be heard..  First I normalize to 0db.
Doesn't work on all types of music but for my stuff and my backing tracks it's fine.
I thought it came with Wave Lab, but I must have it stashed in my plug in folder and forgot where it came from KVR?
