I am a new user of sonar 7 producer. I am using the roland vs-100 and a soundblaster audigy sound card. I can hear the sample content clearly. I can record and hear my midi keyboard. However, when try to record an audio track I see the level meter moving but I don't hear any sound. When I go to options/audio/drivers I see my sound card multiple times as an asio but it is greyed out and I can not check the boxes next to it. My vs-100 is checked and black. Does this mean my sound card is incompatible? Thanks to anyone who can offer advice.

Is ASIO what you have selected for drivers? I'm not sure there are ASIO drivers for Audigy. Have you checked Creatives site for them?  ASIO4ALL (free download) could be a usable workaround (it's not really ASIO), or you could try WDM drivers.

If you can hear your soft synths play back the MIDI you recorded, that's audio as well, so there is some life somewhere. I assume you have checked that the audio track outputs are set correctly.

I'm surprised that you guys missed this,
Fact- You can only use one ASIO device at a time.
Of course the Roland VS 100 is checked, that is your audio interface, You do not use your on board card when you have a proper interface such as yours. As a matter of fact you are best to totally disable the Audigy it as it will cause known issues. I had to physically remove my Audigy card from the computer to stop conflicts.  ASIO drivers do not like having a PCI ASIO card cohabitation.

Hook your monitors to the VS100, not the SB card. SB cards are for gaming.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I have ASIO for all. I disabled the Sb card then I tried going out directly through the rCA jacks on my vs100 with no luck. (Although I do hear the mic's sound through the headphone jack) Which should I choose the wdm to apply to? I have the options of my sound blaster card and my vs100.

I removed the sb card and still no luck from the vs-100 rca outputs. But thanks for the suggestion, cactus.

There is a sub forum for the vs 100 here where you might find some good reading.

One thing to check is that your tracks outputs are sent to either a master bus or directly to the VS100 outputs.
If your using a Master bus make sure it's outputs are set to the VS100.

Every track has a input and output.
Every soft synth has an output
Every EFX send and Bus has an output.
These all have to be checked and set correctly.

Make sure the VS100 output you choose is the one that your talking about (with the RCA jacks). There may be more than one output option.
Often I have lost output when switching audio interfaces and they default to SPDIF output. My guess is it is still confused about the audigy.
