...be prepared to pay an extra $40 for the discs.  I have 30 Mbps download speed which I check often.  It smokes.  The download service from Cakewalk is about 90 Kbps.

Sonar Producer comes in 4 parts.  Part one was downloading at 91 kbps, and was showing a 5 hour download time.  Sonar only gives you 300 minutes before the download links expire.  According to the guy at Cakewalk customer service,  if your time limit expires during a download, you will have to start that download over again.  I calculated that it would be nearly impossible to download it, based on their current speeds.

As one comedian once said:  "It's travelling at the speed of smell."   (Ron White)

i don't have a very fast connection (i have the slowest broadband that comcast offers).
It did not take 3 hours to DL all of the X2 programs and content.

It's alot faster than waiting for it to come in the mail and it's painless if you hit download right before you go to bed.

Though my downloads went fine (took several hours), I ended up paying a 50$ one time surcharge to my ISP for exceeding my download limit,
which had never happened before.

So beware those of you with limited access. Programs sure are huge these days.

That is one reason I use "Free Download Manager." If I have to use more than one link, I can copy/paste the new link into the download properties for the file and FDM will resume the download on servers that support resume. CW servers support resume.

Depends on your connection and system setup (and also, I think, USA vs others). I downloaded it in less than 15 minutes. You will probably hear from others that will be more helpful.

I downloaded everything in about 2 hours (all four parts) and that was a few days after it was released. Their servers are kind of wacky but this really shouldn't be as big of a problem as you are stating. Most of us downloaded our versions without problems. Not saying you aren't but I would say a) use a download manager and/or b) try restarting your download at another time. Maybe their servers are getting slammed for some reason or they are having problems at the moment. The website has been a little wacky as of late but I think they are hosted by Amazon. Try starting your download late at night or first thing in the morning. Also when I did my downloads the download speed fluctuated wildly throughout the process. You may have just looked at it when it was choking on something.

Seriously... it took me two hours.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy X2.

Hi Beepster,

No, I gave it a good hour before giving up.  Cakewalk is running a $99 special, so it might be extremely busy right now.  I get up at 4am, so I'll give it a try then.  But, the DVD's are on the way!

Ah... yeah if there is a special that might be the problem. It's good to have the discs anyway although it's easy just to burn the .exe's to disc but that ain't as pretty on a shelf.

Be sure to go over to Groove3 and sign up for an account. You'll get a free pass to their vids. There are some really good ones on X2 there to get you going. X2 is still a little buggy but it really is awesome. Cheers.

hmmm... Yeah, $99 is the usual upgrade price for X1 Producer customers. Maybe Jack got pulled in by some marketing material.

Still very much worth it though. I'd have paid that much just for some of the extra plug ins that came with it... but don't tell the bakers I said that. ;-p
