Two really good ones I use are the Algorithmix Red (unfortunately only 32-bit), and the DMG Audio EQuality, which has an LP mode, and is 64-Bit. However, when the Algo Red PEQ is updated for 64-bit, it's so far the best one I've ever used as a plug-in. There's other really good ones. For the money, the LP-64 is great!

My goal is to stay in the Sonar box. Having said that I did buy the extra Pro Channel sethttp://www.store.cakewalk...ductid=10-XPPM1.00-20E

Trying to do my best to resist buying more plugins.

Good luck with that. An admirable goal, but no one is immune to GAS, unfortunately - it gets everyone eventually. The good news is that since the addition of the limiter SONAR has everything you need built-in. The bad news is that marketers are always trying to convince you that if your song sucks, it's not your fault - you just haven't bought the right plugins. Stay strong, rb.

Funny, it's not the marketers that's my problem and weakpoint. It's all the guys in the video's I've been watching up on Groove 3.  They talk about this plugin, that plugin...

I must remain strong!

There's a limiter built into Sonar?

I would imagine they are talking about the Concrete Limiter, since http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2801028 refers to the extra PC modules but there are two plugins that provide limiters in SONAR, both Sonitus Compressors.

I find it easier to resist software GAS.  I've got enough and figure it is easier to learn what I have than get more.  Famous last words.

But hardware - only my bank account stops me.

Yes, the concrete limiter.

You can do it all in the Pro channel. It would be nice if Sonar X3 had a built in wav editor. I haven't needed one so far but if you have a song that fades into another, you'll need something. I guess Audacity works. It's free, but I haven't used it.

Fade in/out can be handled easily in SONAR with automation. I do use Sound Forge for some things but I could work without it. If I did not have Sound Forge and wanted a free editor to integrate into SONAR, I would probably use http://www.wavosaur.com/
