I have all 3.

Studio One is the best, work flow wise.  Sonar is great for mixing.   I just started using Cubase7....it will now be my main DAW. Overall,  it just seems more cohesive to me.  More fluid.  And this is coming from a long time Sonar user (check my joined date).

If anyone is interested in a vs700c controller, pm me.

And if anyone wants a more detailed explanation of why I switched, pm me as well.  I dont care to get pulled into this war.

Me and my big mouth, so now they come in here and openly admit it, frick me. s**** s**** 56 posts now... hehe

bigboi, you're the one i've been waiting for, forget the PM matey, just lay it out, point blank, freedom of speech, we need to hear it, i need to hear it, everyone needs to hear it, the aliens need to hear it, even the President needs to hear it, this is my chance, tell me why Cubase is better than Sonar, in detail, and why.

It took 147 posts to wait for this info, now's the time, like you said, you're a long time Sonar user, you have a right to be here, and a right to have an opinion on another DAW, so lets hear it; if Cakewalk are confident about their DAW then they have nothing to worry about, the truth reigns supreme. What do you mean Sonar is better for mixing, what? Does S1 need ten mouse-clicks to insert an effect, what do you mean?

10 mouse clicks to insert an effect?

I don't know what DAW you're talking about, but you'd better steer well clear of it

Wonderful thread. I remember back in the day when I used to frequent this forum & participate in these threads....... ah, the good ole days. Anywho, a little background. I pretty much stopped all the DAW wars about the time SonarX1 came out. I was on Sonar5 & though cakewalk made it financially attractive to upgrade through all that, I had to take a break. I was tired of building new computers to accommodate features of software I'd never use. I'm a simple man, my needs are few. So anyway, I'm just wasting time, kicking the tires on a couple of the new products out there. Saw this thread & thought I'd ask the experts. Cubase 7 includes this new funtionality, I was wondering if Sonar had an equivalent. Cubase detects the harmony structure of your song and feeds back all chord and scale information to both MIDI and audio tracks processed with VariAudio. All tracks engaged to follow will automatically reflect any harmonic adjustments made with the Chord Track! Advanced voicing options are used to transform existing parts in a harmonically correct and ear-pleasing way. Chords can be either entered manually with the mouse, by playing them on a MIDI keyboard, or generated automatically from existing MIDI parts in the project. You may even want to enter single notes and harmonize these later on with VariAudio — Chord Track lets you do all this. and this (which is similar) Intelligent composing assistance You don't have to be a musical genius to lay down beautiful harmonies — not when you're using Cubase 7. The powerful new Chord Assistant helps you to generate everything from simple pop to complex jazz chord sequences that just sound fabulous. Want to specify both the first and final chords but have no clue how to get there? This, also, is possible in Cubase 7. The Chord Assistant lists chord suggestions from which you can choose — it's all just a click away.
