The forum search function sucks, imo.

Is the consensus that V-Vocal is simply broken?

I'm running X2A (64) on Win8.

Agreed on the forum search. Always has, always will.

I can't help with the V-Vocal thing.
It seems that some use it with no issues and others can't use it at all.

I and many others have gone the Melodyne route. I switched 4 years ago and have never looked back.
It costs a few bucks but you will not regret it at all.

I've used V-Vocal for years with very few issues.
However, depending how you use it, yes, V-Vocal does have some limitations, and best practice is to use it on shorter clips, to correct occasional intonation or timing problems in Vocals, or mono instruments.

If you need to do more than that, you'll probably have to spend money on something else.

(also . . . searching Cakewalk Forum works best in Google, and there are some great threads discussing V-Vocal)

Works fine here.  Occasional glitches, but no more than any other software.

I always keep clips short, and bounce them when done.  Read Bitflipper's advice on using it:-

I use V-Vocal on X2a without issues -and it's great by the way.

That said, after installing X2a initially I did have a problem with V-Vocal. It was crashing my file every time I tried using it. After speaking with Tech Support I learned they were familiar with folks with this kind of issue and advised the way to correct it is a full uninstall of X2, and then a re-install.

That sounded like a horrible idea.

But Tech Support provided me with the steps for the full uninstall (and I've seen those steps listed in several threads here in the forum).

It was actually pretty painless to do the uninstall and reinstall.

After I did that, I found that everything worked great including V-Vocal.  I now use it regularly without issues and appreciate its features.

I've been using VV quite successfully ever since it was first given to us with very few issues. Of course I would love it to have more abilites, but it works well. It's not "broken".

There are many discussions of it on the forum and I believe that the google methodf (which I can never remember) works well for searching the forum. the search feature on this forum as we all know is more troubled than ir "should be"...

There are a number of suggested methods of using it but that known, it also mostly works doing things sometimes referred to as "not the right way to use it"... ;-)

So if it's not working for you at all, there is some other problem going on... Tho I am using Win7Prox64, I have used it on another user's win8 system and it appeared to be working fine there too...

For me, the underlying (original) clip is NEVER muted automatically like it used to be.  So on playback I hear both the corrected and original clip unless I manually mute the underlying clip.  I've seen a few other posts complaining about this behavior, but not sure yet why it's different for some of us.

I have submitted a bug report, and at Cakewalk's request uploaded a sample project showing the issue, but haven't heard anything since.

I've been using V-vocal since it was first included in a Sonar Release (6?) through X2a without issue. There have been some times when it has done something unpredictable but never anything that kept me from working. I have done the short clip approach and opened entire vocal performances and neither has been demonstrably advantageous. The project always dictated the approach.

Since I know it can work I would suggest looking into the uninstall/reinstall approach to see if a remedy exists there.

What symptoms are you suffering? Why do you ask?
I'd say the consencus is V-Vocal is ok, but not as flexible and powerful as, say, Melodyne.

The forum search/the forum software IS  poor.
