As per the Session Drummer 3 threads lately, here is a modified SFZ.

You have to copy the text that follows into a text editor and save as an SFZ file for example "SS dry snare.sfz".

If you want to hear a clear example of the difference between the stock programming and my edited version try the following. Open the "Downtown.cwp" file included with Sonar. Mute all instruments except the drums. Open Session Drummer and load the Steven Slate Old Zep program. Route the midi drum track thru SDrummer and listen to  the snare. Now right click on the snare in SDrummer and load the SFZ I sent. Listen again. Night and day. You'll hear things that are clearly missing.

This is -not- what I would consider a finished edit but due to the whining and questioning of certain people here I'm posting this now in hopes that they'll back off and realize this is not some trivial joke. Maybe then I/we can get along with dealing with the actual issues again.

The following is the content of the modified SFZ:

You didn't have to rush bro.  It's way beyond sleepy time por moi and hopefully I've got some time tomorrow to check this out..

Thanks though..

Btw 3 threads is kinda spammy.. It's like a "spant". .... Spam + rant

There is zero degree of appropriateness in this group of threads. Essentially I see this as a lot of unwarranted garbage complaining over an easy to use  free instrument whose functionality and sound quality is deliberately and appropriately restricted...its free (duh!)

Got a problem?.. want something better?.. There is a whole range of instruments to choose from.. and speaking of instruments, I sincerely hope the mods move this rant thread group to the appropriate forum..which is "cakewalk Instruments"... not "Sonar X1"

This issue was well described and documented, I'm not running around saying Sessuion Drummer 3 sucks, I'm saying sample editing as a whole is questionable at times. I am also looking for others' input as to the editing of these programs thru SFZ format and other formats. You are quite incorrect, the instrument is not restricted nor is the sound quality. Where did you get that information?

Do you have anything positive to contribute?

SToons: Many, many thanks for your hard work! This will definitely be useful for me.

Regarding the remarks about SD3 being "free", while they don't have anything at all to do with the issue at hand, I feel the need to point out that there's something about this logic that I fail to see. In fact, as far as I can see, Cakewalk themselves are marketing the SD3 as a major selling point of the Producer edition over the Studio edition: http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/X1-Producer/feature.aspx/SONAR-X1-Comparison-Chart

Suppose there was such a strange programming error that the default ProChannel modules stopped working starting today. Would anyone shrug this off and think "they were just free add-ons, there is a multitude of third party plugins I can buy"?

I complained about -some- of the content, not Session Drummer 3. And I'm doing something positive about it for you and others. Did you listen to the example? Did you learn that SFZ files can be edited? That you can modify and customize Session Drummer and other non-monolithic instruments and even use some of them in the SFZ Player? You find nothing to be gained in this discussion?

As for the right forum, well, maybe you ought to have mentioned that three days ago if it's an issue. Perhaps then you could say you've tried to contribute something positive in this discussion.

Clearly i have more to contribute that you do.. this is the wrong forum for your complaints and diatribe.. and personally I see that a positive contribution to the Sonar X1 user community about a series of ranting threads posted IN THE WRONG PLACE..

As far as your rant.. samples are what samples are.. a product of the technique, equipment, environment, artist & sound engineer.. free and sample sets are budget constrained.. a walk-in drummer, cheap kit and a 4hr limit.. so yup.. that seems restricted to me...and why you dont understand this is beyond me... quality costs.

Did you ever wonder why a single sampled piano can cost upwards of $500?.. have you ever tried to sample instruments? do you have the remotest clue as to the hundreds of man hours, preparation, setup, recording, environment, acoustics & equipment required to produce high quality sample sets?...

At the end of the day if you dont like the sound of an instrument you buy another... its that simple, its not hard, nor is it a problem...

Apparantly not to this discussion. It's pretty clear you haven't followed - your points are clearly moot to anyone who has actually -read- this discussion. It's already been covered, sorry.

Quote: "free and sample sets are budget constrained.. a walk-in drummer, cheap kit and a 4hr limit.. so yup.. that seems restricted to me"

Wrong again. These are Steven Slate samples we are discussing. 20 samples per region. Maybe not as many velocity regions as some would prefer but none the less very good quality samples. That was never in question. Well, not by anyone but yourself. Again it's quite clear you haven't even read the thread.

Quote: "As far as your rant.. samples are what samples are.. a product of the technique, equipment, environment, artist & sound engineer.. "

Wrong again. All that work is garbage if the -editing- is garbage. You conveniently (or ignorantly) ignored that fact, didn't you? Consider yourself filtered. Cheers.
