In this file do I need to add the first 4 lines?

I.E

//  sfz definition file
//  (c) Zyler Vega Cakewalk, Inc 2009
//  Steven Slate - Old Zep Kit
//  Modified by SToons
Or from the next line on? And thanks for the hard work... Oh have you done any more sfz stuff? Rock on

Any line with "//" at the beginning is treated as a comment and ignored by the interpreter.

If you're only modifying the file for your own use it doesn't matter if these lines are present or not.
If you're going to do something public with the file, I'd leave the lines there out of respect.

boy this was ugly, not because he posted these wonderful sfz's (whch now that I have edited my own have laearned to respect his work)

but it was the 2 posts before this that broke it wide open, 1 post a day 3 days in a row, dogging the samples in session drummer 3, it got old,so people, including myself, lashed out.

im sorry stones, your work here was a little over shadowed by the complaining in the previous threads, but in all honesty, you did good work here.

I read those threads last night and couldn't believe the pounding SToons received for his efforts. He must have armour plate for skin.

I found the information very useful as I'm also digging around in the sample files.

did you really?
read all three?
this was only the seconed onei believe:
http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2608339
http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2607555

where he calls the bakers a bunch of idiots.

ya,i think he was way out of line.
like I said in many of my posts to him, theres a way to productively get your point across with out insulting people.
I along with many others had a huge problem with that and still do.
he also at one point posted his phone# and address of employment(way out of line)

he started off with troll like posts then slowly got a grip and cooled down a bit.
no one asked him to re write those session drummer 3 samples.
but he acted like it was his job to fix cakewalks broken files.
yes he said the files were programed all wrong and basically useless.
I don't know about you but I don't find these files useless.
he was so dependent on those steven slate samples.have you heard them?
they sound really good to me
so what if they're missing some velocitys.

I said it once and I will say it again.....
he was knit picking.

Although I'm never a big fan of posters creating endless threads complaining about essentially the same thing, let's dispel the myth that SD3 is free. The exact value of it is nebulous, but "included with" and free are not the same thing. I realize some may see this as a matter of semantics, but i think it's important distinguish truly free things offered by Cakewalk (aka discontinued/unsupported products) and products that are considered current and marketed as part of the features. It's not like the OP is complaining about triangle II. This happens to be the current and only plugin solley dedicated to playing drums.

and I do agree with you on this  :)
even though I may not have last year when this rant was going on.
I think because he offended quite a few of us.

my only problem to begin with was his disrespect for cakewalk bakers, lowering them. the names he used and things he said.
my other problem was his approach, there was no need to start calling people out, saying there not doing their job(might be in this thread,i don't know, there were 3 all together)
3 threads in a row, one each day.
there are ways to get your point across, then there are ways to be disrespectful to cakewalk.

and if you continue to read on you will see he was using sonar 8.5 not sonar x1 or x2
correct me if im wrong but there was a lot of extra content added in session from sonar 8.5 to sonar x1
not a gui change, but added content and possibly new changes to some of those samples.

so he was complaining about samples that had been released 4 years previous.
when I confronted him on it,he told me to get a life and learn how to read.
I didn't think I was being to out of line calling him on it.

I along with some others felt this was just picking something apart.
have you noticed the difference in velocity's in session drummer samples ?
I have not, but the steven slate kit I have a little.
he even said, not all of them, only the steven slate kit and a few other samples.
so why go on this rant about cakewalk is lazy and didn't finish the job, exc. ?
over the steven slate sizzle kit sfz's? serious ?
so im asking, do you think it warranted a 3 day, 3 threads rant on horrible sample editing by cakewalk ?
it was 3% percent of session drummers samples he was complaining about.
3% percent.
have you read some of the things he said in this thread I have posted the links too ?

very rude, ignorant and ugly.
even people trying to help with suggestions he just answered back with ignorant answers link."cant you read ? "

not needed.

I don't think it is ever appropriate for anyone to respond with comments like "can't you read" even if the person is right about a particular point. It just escalates the issue to a personal one and distracts from the subject. i am sure I have been guilty of doing that myself. think like most of the complaints on this forum, it's not so much that his problem did not have any merit, but mostly in the way he expressed it. With that said, this thread turned out to be educational despite the friction. Go figure.
