Hi,
Anyone using the Sonitus Multiband ?
I've had a little play with it, and it sounds ok, it's the first time I've taken a little time
to use it, and it adds something to my mix, on the master bus !!!

its not my go to for multi band compression, but like all the sonitus plug-ins they do exactly what they say on the tin

the LP 64 is better, but both are great tools.  multi band compressipn is a beautiful thing.  it is essentially "dynamic"  EQ

I also like the LP 64, but in a previous thread I said how it was craclkling
whenever I moved anyything on the LP 64, I then increased my buffers and
thought the crackling went away, but it's back !!!

Sounds like you have low ceiling for processing power. That means that when you add more FX, you reach the real time processing ceiling. Does it crackled when you bounce to tracks?

How many instances of the LP64 are you using in the project? I think it's meant more for mastering as opposed to a track compressor (I may be wrong on that). If you haven't already you should toss the Performance Module into the control bar (right click the Control Bar and select Performance Module until it appears). That way you can watch what is sucking up your CPU and RAM resources. Once you start seeing that your system is being overtaxed increase your buffers and/or Freeze some tracks. You can also see if there are any spikes going on. You've got enough RAM and a fast processor so even if you are using multiple instances it should be able to handle it up to a point. Have you optimized the system for audio? How fast are your hard drives? 7200RPM for mechanical drives is optimal.

Keep in mind though that those LP64 plugs pretty much always crackled/dropped out in X1 no matter what you did (at least that was the case for me). It's the improved audio engine in X2 that seems to have made it a little more smooth to work with.

Just tossing some ideas your way. Cheers.

I remember sticking it on my EZ Drummer bus one time and it seemed to add the ummff I was looking for. Good stuff.

I like the LP64 also.

A true story here.  A couple of years ago, I liked the LP64 so much that I put it on a bunch of my tracks for real time tracking.  You know what happened next.  It brought my system to its knees with cracks and pops.  I was using a AMD Phenom 955be and 8 gigs of ram which was a fast system back then; so I thought I had the power to run a bunch of cpu heavy plugins in real time tracking.  I was informed by other members here on this forum that the LP64 is not for tracking but for the mixing and mastering stages and that I should not have so many instances of it on my tracks.  Of course they were right.  When I moved to an i7 2700 with 16gigs of ram that gave me more cpu headroom, but I still only use the LP64 on sub busses just to be safe.
Not that any of you had my problem.  Just saying the LP64 is a great tool, but it can be CPU intensive.  It really is a fine multiband compressor

The LP-64 is a better sounding multi-band. I think it has better algorithms, but it will take more processing power then the Sonitus multiband. So if you are going to use multiple instances of multi-band and your CPU is having problems then the Sonitus may be an option. While the LP-64 can be used on the master it also works well on a buss or a single channel.
