Apologies if this has been posted on here before but as I am new to this forum I feel the need to contribute and share.  I recently bought this and I have to say this is an amazing book!

It has obviously been a total labour of love by the authors.  It is expensive but well worth it.  The content is fascinating and the presentation is fantastic.  I cannot recommend this highly enough…absolutely fascinating reading about how all those amazing records were made…also a real insight into EMI and Abbey Road…..

The detail that is presented is just magnificent….something for everyone….Beatles nuts…tech nerds…recording gurus….

Although this is not about modern recording it is an amazing reference.  I am just a beginner so I would appreciate if anyone else has any good recommendations for good reference books for learning about DAWs and computer based recording in general…

Thanks

Peter

Thanks for posting this, Peter, and welcome to the forum.

For tips on mixing I recommend"Mixing Audio" by Roey Izhaki and "Mixing Secrets" by Mike Senior.  They are both brilliant.

And for using Sonar, I recommend Scott Garrigus's Sonar Power books.  X1 is available, but the X2 one should be out soon.

Thanks, JB! SONAR X2 Power! should be out around the end of the month. It's currently available for pre-order for a nice discount. Here's the link for anyone that may be interested...

I have this book to. Really cool to see how they recorded the songs. Very detailed to even where they sat when they played and what they did to stopped the amp from rattling. It's pretty cool that some staff had white lab coats on moving mic's and arranging thinks in the studio.
