If we talk about best quality you'll probably have to look for Prism Sound Orpheus, but the price will go to almost double what you'll have to pay for Burl or Universal Audio.

Peter,

I don't think so - they are just line outputs as far as I know.  The TCK 48 won't, anyway.  TC just released new drivers, which are supposed to get lower latency, but I haven't updated yet.  Things are  working and I'm working, so I don't really have time to fix anything that goes wrong w/ updating.  Another cavet - the TCK 6 doesn't have midi i/o.  And the drivers can be tempermental still, tho at this stage few people have problems.  Still, always deal w/ a retailer that will allow you to exchange things, unless you want to be your own tech support.  Been there, done that, and don't want to go back.

Papa, I agree, except for the pricing.  Orpheus is $4500 for an 8X8 FW interface.  The UA is used and going for about $1800 for a stereo ADDA, while Burl starts out $2500 for the mothership to put the AD/DA cards into, which are $4500 for an 8X8.  Prism, of course, has their modular unit which is about expensive, and then there are other mastering convertors - you can spend as much as you want.  And nice if nakid deck, there ;-)

Hi,

I scratched about for ages with several sound cards and eventually went with an external (Roland Quad Capture) it seems to do a better job than the various sound cards I tried and works with everything. easy to install (plug it into a USB port) plug the output into the speaker amp.  Plug in the guitar or mike and go for it.  The keyboards go in via a separate USB connection.

However I am also new to this.
