Thanks Susan,

Sounds like I should use both. I'll check it.

I use EZPlayer Pro too, but it doesn't actually search for .mid files. You have to add the paths yourself.

This is the inital problem with it - is knowing how to organise it.
Because I got it with Superior Drummer 2.0 is has things already set up.
I left all Toontrack as it came but all my other midi, I've structured for my own use.
I saw how the folders are coded, so I could then create my own headings and subfolders, rather than having them all in as one big midi library. This took a bit of time.
So I've got all my midi structured with blue headings and main folders off that and subfolders off that.

But you can just drag any midi folders in and name it and it's done.

I am attempting to organize my midi drum library, and after checking out a few things I decided to go with EZ Player Pro because (1) I got a free copy of EZPlayer Pro when I purchased SD2 (love 'em freebies!), and (2) on the surface it looked like it would do most of what I wanted to do.  The thing I like about EZPlayer Pro is that it will "translate"  midi grooves from, say, Superior Drummer 2, to BFD, General MIDI to Steven Slate SSD 4, etc.  It's not necessarily for the faint of heart, but if you dig in and figure it out there are benefits to be had.

Susan:  I tried to access the link you posted for MIDIcat but Norton Antivirus immediately popped up with messages about how this site is some sort of security risk and to proceed with caution ... anyone else have this problem?  I have gotten similar messages about sites that I believe to be safe, but I still avoid suspicious sites unless I can somehow confirm that they are safe.

LL, I'm at right work (which has very high security) and the link to MIDIcat is fine........(usually, if the software even suspects a "shady" site, it will block it from viewing).

Talk about reviving a dead thread.....congrats on this 7th anniversary!!

Edit: (Interestingly, at the Download Page at MIDIcat)

All files are checked with Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition, McAfee VirusScan Enterprise and Trend Micro OfficeScan.

I've already had some reports about false alarms from other antivirus programs. If you have encountered such alarm, please contact me or antivirus vendor. See news for information about new and old false alarms.

+1 for EZ Payer Pro. You can build your library any way you want it if you just pay attention to how it does things. I have all my Groove Monkey, LoopLoft, Addictive Drums, Studio Drummer and Abbey Rd, Prosonic and of course Toontrack in there and with the "map wrap" thingy it works great. Forgot Odd Grooves and a few others. I even made a parallel library. If I click on "Styles" I have all my Funk or Blues or what ever together in files. So I can open up a folder and the genre is there no matter the manufacturer. It took some work but I love it and am glad I did it. If I build my drum part in EZ Player first and then drag to Sonar I can always click on a block and have it show up in the browser so I know where it came from and that is very handy. I am hoping a new EZ Player Pro comes out soon with the EZ Drummer search features in it. I think it's one of the most under rated plugins out there. It is showing it's age but I still use it all the time.

Holy cow, this EZ Player will map general midi files to Addictive Drums???

Dumb question before I buy it. When was the last time it was updated?

One note: it installs as a 32- or 64-bit VST2 .dll file. If you want to run it standalone (doh), you need a host, something like SAVIHost.

There is Toontrack Solo. which is a free download at the Toontrack site. You open this to use Superior Drummer or EZ Drummer with EZ Player Pro stand alone. It will be in Toontrack Software Tools in your account.
