Can this be run from the tools menu?

Currently no, but this could easily be added in a future release.

Does export leave the original file in the same location?

SampleSort only ever creates copies of files in the location you desire.  It will never remove any thing from the real file system.  It may well remove entries in it's database if it tries to preview a file and SampleSort detects that the file is no longer present on the file system.

Some people have mentioned in the past that rather than having a "Blocking List" that details the location you DONT want to scan it should have an "Inclusion List" for the locations that you do want to scan.

The problem with this is generally speaking people organise their projects logically, meaning that you will probably use per project audio file storage and that will generally be on a specific drive on your system.  Meaning that you can list this location in the Blocking list so that these locations will not be scanned when you use SampleSort.

This means that the samples you have exported to these locations for use in projects won't generate duplicate entries in the database on subsequent scans of your DAW.

Let me know if that isn't clear and I'll explain some more.  I know that I really want to update and expand the help file for the next release.

Cheers Guys!

Hi All,

Just a little heads up to say that a new version has just been released.  Whilst there aren't any new features in this update I have made significant changes under the hood to make new features easier to implement.

There is an entirely new database which will mean you will need to rescan your machines after the install.  I know this is inconvenient but it makes new feature much easier to implement going forward.

There are lots of bug fixes included in this release and also it's built on top of the newest version of the platform meaning some of the more arcane problems people had seen have all been dealt with as well.

Let me know how you get on.

Definitely.

Onwards and upwards, I'm hoping that the next version will finally implement the ability to really manage the cataloging process.  Not a trivial feature to build however.

Let me know how you get on with it.

Hugely annoying but I've made so many changes that I'd overlooked something very basic.  This is the trouble, I'm trying to build a complicated app and I have literally no beta testers.  I've tried to get a crew together in the past but it's hugely difficult getting people to offer time for a free app ...

Thanks.  I installed but got same result.  No need to apologize.  This is not easy.  If no oneelse is having this issue I have to assume there is something on my end, but I can't think of anything.
