I installed them and licensed them to a thumbdrive.

1. can I move them to my desktop (win10)?
2. if I leave them on the thumbdrive, can I install them on my laptop 2 and just move the thumbdrive?

My stand alone of GTR3 won't open, saying "bad image" so I guess I have to reinstall it. Should I uninstall it first?

Thanks for any help. These are my first Waves plugs.

If you think something is screwed up with an install, you definitely want to do an uninstall/clean reinstall.

Good luck with the Wave Shell.

You may have installed/licensed them to a thumbdrive, but the license is PC-based. You move the thumbdrive, you got no license.

License? I don't need no stinkin' license.

Well, in this case, yeah you do.

Can I move the licenses to Windows/my desktop? I don't use the Cloud and have no account(there... yet?)

They can all stay on that PC as it's my mixing one. (I track some on my laptop in another room)

If Waves Central allowed you to put licenses on the thumbdrive, then you should be able to use the Manage Licenses part of Waves Central to move them to your PC.

I got it as part of a bundle and really like it. Especially for stereo guitar sounds, and it's my go-to for putting synths through a guitar amp for that grungy sound. It seems to sound better with synths than other amp sims. However I frequently forget I have it when I'm looking to amp up a guitar, probably because I just don't associate Waves with guitars or something like that!

I've got it with Gold and I've never even fired it up yet. Sounds like I need to then.

Thanks TheMaartian! I'll check to see if GTR3 is working in Sonar and decided whether to reinstall it or not. I don't know that I'll use it stand alone, but I suppose so.

I agree, for stereo processing it beats other ampsims, mainly because it's easy to get great results without tweaking too much. Tone, feel and other sound related stuff is highly subjective though, so YMMV.

I used to use mine standalone quite a bit for practice, but not so much now that I've figured out how the Tascam US-16x08 output routing works (bass => Input 9 (Inst) => Monitors; no PC interaction needed). I have a Markbass Compressore that I should pull out of storage and use.
