...my house has high walls, very powerful electric fence, beams to trigger alarm then security alarms each window and door, plastic bars on each opening window, anti smash film on all non opening windows, cameras  etc oh and guaranteed 2 minute armed response which I think is the biggest deterrent of all - and these guys don't muck around, so can and do shoot if necessary...

The irony, isn't it? Because of all the criminals on the streets, honest people are the ones who end up living in "prisons". 
 
Whether it's because they take what's ours or to protect ourselves or to prosecute them and keep them in jail - we ALWAYS pay for those parasites, one way or another. 
 
Reece, man, I'm so sorry for you. I hope they manage to find the scums who did it and your stuff.

I am so sorry to hear this bad news Reece. Hang in there. I've got to get off my rear and take preventative action now. 
 

Again, locks only keep out honest people. Backup, take pictures, write down SNs... I do have an alarm system though.

I took out an instruments rider on my insurance, about 5 years ago. I'm covered for about 10k in instruments, if stolen. I left the computers and electronics on the home owners insurance.

We need to use the security system more often, we don't always remember to activate it when we leave the house. Jake, stays in the house 100% of the time when we are away. At 85 lbs, hopefully he is a good back up system.

Sorry to hear this. Because of Bits loss I installed cameras all over my house. I am in the process of installing an alarm system. There was a time you could go to sleep with your doors unlocked. Never again I'm afraid. The people in my old neighborhood in Newark NJ now have gates around the houses and bars on the windows. Sad.

Wow!! So sorry to hear this Reece.....it really makes me mad to see things like this happening, and now much more frequent than before.
Hopefully, this punk gets what coming to him......justice.....and you get to recover your items.
