I always notice that people who say 'money doesn't make you happy' are usually the ones who have a lot of it. Strangely they seem to try and hang on to it, regardless.

I could give you a long trope using neo-freudian structuralism about morality and money but it's....  (controversial).  In fact this post might be controversial because I mentioned it was controversial!  What a great country!

Money will generally make you "comfortable", but it won't bring you happiness or peace of heart. I personally know of 2 multi-millionaires who have more money than they know what to do with (externally), but inwardly, they're a complete mess......it's quite sad.

Yes, I work for one such. A couple of million quid tied up in classic cars and can't sleep at night.

The saying "Money is the root of all evil" is very incorrect.  The actual quote (take from 1 Timothy) is "Love of money is the root of all evil."  Money is to an economy what blood is to a body.  You need it, you need enough of it and, most importantly, it needs to be circulated.  Having too much accumulate in one place (the "Love of" part) causes other areas to not get enough.

So send me a bunch and I'll be sure to spend it for the greater good!

The idea that money can be horded resulting in a starved economy is wrong.  The amount of money in our economy is not finite.

The vast amount of "money" that gets horded is money on paper (not to be confused with paper money) anyway.

Ah, not true!  This has nothing to do with a zero-sum game or socialistic ideals.  Wealth creation is extremely hampered when money isn't allowed to circulate sufficiently.  Unfortunately, you may see proof of this very soon (then things are REALLY going to get ugly in America!).

Circulation isn't hampered by accumulation.  Circulation is hampered by lack of borrowing.  Money in our economy is borrowed into existence.

Not to get too political or serious but if you all want something interesting to watch you should check out "Requiem For The American Dream" on Netflix. It's almost scary how Noam Chomsky describes almost all of our current money and economic dilemmas, how they were set in stone hundreds of years ago and how they are coming to fruition.
