Hi:)

I don't want to new install Sonar, but how can I then get an Activation File?

The "Offline Activation" in the help menu is not present when Sonar is activated!

I have an old Request File from 2015 but this does not work for the newest Version I think...

Thanks:)
Bassman.

That's a good question.

However, I do believe that any activation file you receive using this method would be specific to your existing hardware. It would only be useful if you installed Sonar on the exact same PC.  Change your BIOS, ad a graphics card change your Mobo and the code would be rendered useless.

There have been recent discussions about "Offline Activation" for new installations.  In this case, you can get the activation file.  Hopefully these two threads will be helpful:

Although, I think bassman was asking a slightly different question.

I believe promidi is correct about the activation file being specific to a particular computer.

I`m sure it is specific on hardware,so unless cakewalk them self`s give us this activation file it is all useless when you change the hardware.
Forget about the image as well, it will not work if you change hardware or pc,you`ll have all king of other problems to make it work.
Peace

HI:)

OK! Are you sure it's hardware dependent and not Version specific??

At that time I had Version 21.0.1.254 (Now 23.10.0.14), and I only added some SSDs, MoBo and Processor are the same, perhaps Graphics card change, can't remember...

It's now so steady at the moment, I don't want to install all new, so much work:(

Hm......make Image - Install Sonar new - get Activation File - play Image back!

Really the only way?

I've installed Sonar on 3 different PCs in my house, so I'm getting 3 different Activation Files??
I'm an Atheist, but now I have to say:

Does that mean if I install sonar on a new computer, I can no longer activate the software?
they can not do that. I always stuck to what was in the general terms and conditions. I have never resold any software from cakewalk. That would be really bad for someone like me. I am not a professional and can not buy a new daw. Not even as a crossgrade.

Yes. An install on a new computer would require a new activation.

Older products that came with both a Serial Number and Registration Code do not need online activation.

Newer products that came with a Serial Number only are activated via the Cakewalk Command Center (or offline using the CW servers).  As long as the CW servers stay active, you can install on any computer you want.

While I believe Noel is telling the truth, there may be things beyond his personal control that would see things not work out as planned.

We’re in our present situation exactly because there were promises made that couldn’t be fulfilled.
