Hello, I am currently using X1 Studio. A promo from Cakewalk is now available for X1 Studio upgrade to X2 Producer for $99. That seems pretty tempting! I've been using Studio class products for the last couple of times I've upgraded because it looked like Producer was mostly Studio + VSTis, which I already have more than enough of. So the synths in X2 Producer aren't that enticing, but the effects are. In light of all this, I've got two questions for those of you on the forum: What is the upgrade process like? In other words, will X2P install over X1S, or along side, so that I'd have two separate programs? How generous is X2 install in pointing to separate drives for audio data and samples (I have three physical HDDs, O/S and programs, audio data, and samples). And, is Matrix in X2 same as in X1, or are there changes. If so, what? 80% of what I do is synth, samples, and MIDI, and 20% is guitar and vocal. Thank you, Todd

X2P will install alongside X1S, so you'll have 2 separate programs (or 4 if you install 32 + 64 bit versions). Don't be tempted to uninstall X1. Leave it in place. Removing it can cause issues with X2

Piece of Cake [sic]. You should continue with yuor existing strategy

But in the same line: I had first X1 Essential, then X1 Studio (two programs) and then X2 Producer (three programs!), but I also have Dimension Pro (bought it in a promotion) and other vsts in Studio: will I need to install them on X2? Will those be detected and added to the X2 installation paht?

Thanks Jonesey! Anyone have any comments on Matrix in X2 vs. X1? Any changes, new features?

Will,
X2 will find your existing VST's just fine.

If your on Dimension Pro 1.5 then there's no need to install it again.
