Hey all,

When I open a project, that was saved on my desktop pc, on my laptop, X1 forgets the proper outputs for most of the vst synths, so I end up with Rapture's midi track being routed to Dimension Pro's outputs, etc...

Now this is obvious and easy to fix for synths that have a separate audio & midi track, but it also does the same for simple instrument tracks.

If I take Alpha, which I have as a simple instrument track, and make it into an audio & midi track instead, then the midi track shows being routed to nothing, and the audio output for it is routed to a different synth.

Has anyone else come across this?

To say this is mildly annoying is an understatement.

I'm guessing this is because I have 2 slightly different vst configs on the 2 computers?

If not, is there any way around it?

How are you saving/transfering the project?

CWB
CWP

They're saved as CWP's.

Only difference that I can see between the 2 X1 installs is a different number of plugins in each config.

Im not an expert on the plugins or synths but as far as Im aware,

Both systems need to have the same plugins installed for the project being used,

Have you tried to save it as a CWB file and see what happens?

I believe the CWB (bundle) will save all where the CWP (package) will differ.  Not sure but its the extent of my knowledge on it

As long as the plugins are the same format (i.e. VST or DXi), it should not matter how many other plugins are installed. It also should not matter whether the files are copied as project folders or bundles. You might try to reset and rescan the VSTs on both matchines. The plugins that are referenced in the project should be installed on both machines and the patches used by those plugins should also be on both machines.

A bundle file is a compressed CWP file where the audio and the project is save in a single file.

It does not save plugins. If the OP transfers the folder that is created when a project is started and if per project folders is selected in preferences all he needs to do is copy the folder to the laptop.  This will copy the project and the audio just as it was on the desktop computer.

All the plugins & presets used in the project are present on both machines.

Only reason the laptop has less plugins is because I cleaned out the ones I don't use anymore & I haven't got around to doing the same to the pc yet.

Haven't tried rescanning on both yet but I will later on tonight & see if it helps.

Thanks to all for the replies so far.

Just to be clear reset and rescan, both buttons in the "VST Scan" section in Edit > Preferences > File > VST Settings

Right, did the full reset & rescan.

Now Dimension Pro shows as disabled, whereas it worked fine before. And Zeta 2 can't find its presets anymore

The plot thickens...

I'm tempted to do a fresh reinstall to be honest, as something's obviously gone wrong somewhere down the line.

At least I have a partition backup to resort to if my projects are messed up after it.
