If you want it to return to pasting just one copy, go to paste special and change it to one.

Thanks for the reply. Yes. I realise that. But in a very complex situation, I would like to see as little avoidable complexity and side issues as possible. This seems to be avoidable, complex, side issue.

I am agnostic on this issue so long as I know what to expect, although I think Sharke's idea of making this configurable is good.  The question is where that would rank with all the other desired fixes and enhancements.

The goofier thing to me is that Paste always wants to Paste at the location from which you just copied unless you tell it differently.  For example, if I copy from Track 20 and then open the Staff View of Track 21, Paste wants to go to 20 unless I do Paste Special.  Again, I suppose there has to be a default and my hand is permanently trained to do Crtl+Alt+V. 

(By the way, OldNick, I hope you know that Paste Special shortcut because going to the menu all the time is a huge pain.)

Ctrl Alt V is certainly one to remember and thanks for that. Regarding the "Where does it paste?" thing, I guess I am just happy with the idea that you have to select the track and location before pasting, although I can see that it would be easy to think you had _done_ that, by actually opening a view on that track.
