Hi, I realise that silent buses is an oft reported problem, but I can't seem to find an answer that solves my problem (I am a self-confessed idiot when it comes to technology!)

I'm using Sonar 8.5LE with a cakewalk USB Audio Interface UA-1G on Windows 7. I have been recording demos with no problem until I last opened sonar to be greeted with the following message when I try to open any recording:

"The following tracks and buses are currently assigned to a silent hardware output. The items listed below will be silent in your project until their outputs are reassigned to an appropriate hardware output  - Master."

I've tried various online suggestions, but I'm getting nowhere fast.

Could someone please give me the idiot's guide to possible solutions.

Thanks in advance

The warning usually indicates that some of the tracks/busses are not routed to a working audio output. The warning occasionally is in error. If you do not want to see the warning message, you can suppress it by setting WarnSilentBuses to zero in Edit > Preferences > File > Initialization File

Scook, thank you for your reply. A strange thing has just happened. I opened Sonar to explain the problem in more detail only to find sound has been restored. I've struggled for over a week to correct the problem with no luck. I don't know why it has suddenly fixed itself, but am obviously very happy.
Thank you again for taking the time to reply.

Best wishes,

Andi

If it happens again you probably just need to unplug the UA-1G USB cable, then plug it back in so the driver gets re-loaded.
