For comfort or speed?

I always suspected that Paul Mcartney was sinistral because he was bored playing right handed.

I saw the Beatles cover band 1964 and the bass player was right handed but trained himself to be left handed. They were all about being authentic right down to the Gretch, Rickenbacker & Hofner as well as the Vox amps. They played NOTHING after Rubber Soul. They played together for like 24 years and that was their last "tour".
