Does anyone have any idea why this plugin does not configure as a tempo based effect? First of all, every tempo based effect I've ever used has synced with my Sonar project's tempo from the get-go. But this one doesn't. And if I go into the plugin manager and configure it as a tempo based effect, this setting is forgotten as soon as I close the manager. Am I doomed to setting the tempo of this effect manually every frickin time I use it?

Hi sharke
This happened to me with my waves plugins. IIRC, I fixed it by manually updating cakewalk's settings for the plugin in the Windows registry. The plugin settings in Sonars plugin manager are actually just updating the registry, so if you search the registry for the plugins filename you should find a spot where you can indicate to Sonar that the super tap plugin is a tempo based effect...I think you just change a value from zero to one...search your registry for the filename and it should be pretty evident when you've found the right spot.

Good luck

I have Supertap but haven't used it.  My understanding is if you set the sync control to auto it sync's to your host tempo. That's not working? I assume you can save a preset with that parameter set to sync to the host.

Thanks Razorwit, I'll search the registry.

Mosvalve: that's what you'd think, but it doesn't work. SuperTap does not detect the host tempo. You can set it manually, but that's going to be a pain if you have any tempo changes.

Hi Razorwit,

I was able to successfully change the registry settings to get Supertap to be registered as a tempo based plugin, however my problems have not ended there! Do you have trouble with the Supertap GUI? It seems that the delay sliders have a mind of their own, i.e. I will slide them with the mouse and they will keep bouncing all over the place like they're on elastic bands or something. In fact it's virtually impossible to set them to the positions that I want. The GUI for this plug is completely and utterly screwed up and makes the plug useless. How is it on your end?

The sliders are a pain in the butt. I usually keep the mouse button pushed down until the slider kinda settles down to the value I want. For me, this works fairly well. Other than that I really like this plug.

Hi Sharke
Yep, that's really the problem, the sliders are useless, and thus, essentially so is the plugin. Funny thing is that it's a Sonar thing...Supertap works fine in the other hosts I use. I keep meaning to open a support ticket with Cake about it but I always just sort of end up shrugging and breaking out PSP 608 or UAD stuff.

FWIW, the Waves Hybrid delay seems to work fine, but all my waves plugins really don't seem to like having their VST properties updated the normal way through the plugin manager. I keep having to go to the registry.

Do you know if they register properly as tempo-based etc in other hosts, or whether that's just a Sonar thing as well? It's really weird that they won't have their properties updated through the plugin manager - you would think it was just editing the registry values the same as if you did it manually (which works).

I've never really had problems in other hosts with the Waves stuff...that said, I work mostly in Sonar so it may be a case of my sample size being too small...

hey sharke,
the best thing to do with any plugin that you need to configure like this is remove any instances from the project, then close sonar.  run the plug-in manager standalone and change the vst to tempo sync. then, rescan the vsts again. close plugin manager, relaunch sonar and re-insert the plugin.  just tried this with supertap and it follows tempo changes in a project correctly.

as far as the gui problems, did you run the installer in compatability mode for windows 7??? might be worth a shot.
