Hi, I was using Battery 3 in Sonar 8, but now that I am using X1 in 64-bit, it seems like there is no good information on samplers. I just need to trigger my samples from a pad, and play them in real-time. Native Instruments seems to be pushing Battery out of their line, and I cannot seem to find a solid sample player for 64-bit. It does NOT have to be Battery. Any suggestions?? Thanks so much, ct

Steven Slate Drums  (my favorite)
Addictive Drums (very good - I think you still have to download the 64 bit update separately but it is very stable.)
There are some good and affordable add-on packs for Session Drummer but SD is not a full featured solution and Cakewalk never updates it.

Battery comes in 64-bit, so what's the problem? I use Battery 3 in Sonar X2 64 bit without any problems whatsoever, and I shouldn't think the 32 bit version would give you any problems either.

True. I totally forgot that.  It is quite stable in 64 bit.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean by sampler but BFD Eco is cheap and very very good. I think they have a demo version too if you want to try it out. I think it's great but it is more meant to be like a real mic'd kit so you have to mix it like you would with a live kit. It does have a ton of presets for that kind of thing if you aren't interested in mixing to that level... but that's not as fun. ;-)

Session Drummer 3 will do this.

Load a Session Drummer 3 Template ... open Session Drummer 3, click on Mixer, and drag your samples to each icon.

Good answers. I would really like to use Battery 3, but I could never good feedback from Germany. And yes, Addictive Drums! Bloody expensive, but some really nice sounds there. Also liked a lot of the BFD sounds also. Cheers, ct

Also, did not know that the Steven Slate drums is an actual VST player standalone?

Yep, if all you want to do is load your samples and trigger it with a pad ... SD3 is great for this.

I suggested loading a template only because it will set up all your routing for you ... you can just insert SD3 as a synth, but by default it loads all the outputs to 1 track. I like to keep them separate for individual tweaking with VST's.

I just sampled some of the drums in my old Korg X5 and used SD3 to trigger them in Sonar. Worked like a charm.
