I want to put a soundtrack to video. Sonar has only limited formats that it works with AFAICS. So I was wondering. To avoid too many conversions, my immediate thought is to import an avi of moderate frame size and quality, to keep resource use down while scoring, then take the soundtrack and drop it back to my video editor, then export to my chosen format from there. This seems sensible, but I know there can be gotchas with sync etc. So has anyone any other ideas or hints? Thanks for any help

I export a low resolution version like a wmv encoded at 600kbs and make sure it is the same frame rate as my video project. I import into sonar. The video is small enough that it does not cause SOnar to behave sluggishly. Have never had sync issues upon importing audio back into video editor.

Thanks for the fast reply, mate. OK. Pretty much confirms what I thought. Mind you these days, not so much need for tiny videos, with the PC power that is there! I hope that many sync etc issues have been sorted out since I last did video. They used to be quite a pest. So I will do pretty much as you say and thanks. But yeah I had forgotten frame rate issue. Important for really spot on timing. Thanks.
