Is there any great midi bass sounds for X2? Thanks.

I'm guessing you want bass guitar sounds.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

Dim Pro has some nice ones, especially in the third expansion pack.  There is a particular one in Sound centre that I keep going back to.  I also keep returning to SI bass, which often turns up a good tone for some mixes.

I also often run the bass sounds through an amp sim, either Guitar Rig 5 or Amplitube 3.

Dimension Pro, Rapture, and Z3TA + 2 have a ton of good, solid MIDI basses, as well as the SI-Bass.  If there's not one particular sound you're after, maybe combining 2 or more would work.  It depends on the style of song you're going to use it for.  Good luck!

jb, thanks. Yes, bass guitar. I tried out the SI with Guitar Rig 5 and it sounds pretty good.

I have all three of those synths, Lynn. Have checked out the z3ta + 2. Will look at the others. Thanks.

I haven't explored much but I really like the Zeta+ Alembic setting as a real bass sound. I'm sure there are better ones but I stumbled across that one and was frankly surprised it was hidden in the Zeta patches considering how wacky most of those sounds are. It just... sounds like a bass.

It's worth downloading the free version of Amplitube 3.  I use that a lot for bass.

You can buy extra amps from the Custom Shop, but the free ones still have their uses.

What type of sound are you looking for?

I like roundwound in rapture a lot... just make sure to set polyphony to 4 or automate it in conjunction with automated glide to get some good variation going.  the basses in dimension pro have a lot going for them but you need to open up the sfz files to see what's going on. for example, this is one of the fretless bass patches...
bb1-c5 are single-note samples, but the fun comes in starting at c#5 where slides up and down the neck on different notes are sampled, so it sounds better than pitchwheel bending, and f6-g6 are string snaps, which comes in handy for a bit of funkitude. ;)

jb, thanks. Yes, bass guitar. I tried out the SI with Guitar Rig 5 and it sounds pretty good.

SI bass is pretty decent and very useable, Yes, there are better offerings for Kontakt, but then you are talking about more expensive products.

To expand the range of sounds try this, send the sound of the SI bass to a bus and insert your GR5 on the bus, then mix the direct sound from the original track and effected sound from the bus.

Depends on what kind of bass sound you want. There are literally hundreds in Sonar (TTS-1, SI-Bass, Dimension, Pentagon...). You just have to find the one that's right for you.

but I really like the Zeta+ Alembic setting

Is that the Bapu setting?
